The most important part in the weighbridge is loadcell. A Loadcell is a transducer which converts mechanical weight into electrical signals. There are different types of load cells like Compressor type, Cup, Ball and Shear beam type. We use double ended shear beam type loadcell made by “Sensortronics” a world’s no.1 load cell manufacturing company based in U.S.A. Sensotronics have their R&D facility in Chennai in India and they have their network across the globe. Even in the smallest of countries you will find “Sensotronics” with service network. In India they have their R&D center in Chennai. These are the only loadcellsWorldwide which are repairable. If anything happens to the load cell after 10 or 15 yrs, we will provide a standby loadcell to the site so that the weighbridge is not out of order for a single day and we take the faulty load cell to Chennai for repairs.
The loadcells that are installed by Rockway are pre-calibrated. Normally what people do is that they caliberate the weigh bridge on site with lower load capacities. For eg: Each load cell has a capacity of 20 tonnes. At site it’s not possible to keep 20 tonne of weigh at one particular point or one particular corner of the loadcell. So what people do is they get 5 tonnes of load and keep at the corner to caliberate.

Rockway’s Digital Indicator displays digital weighment and it also has a software and memory where it can generate a customized report. Our indicator has a inbuilt memory of 2 lakh transactions and it can take printouts in any form and at any stage or anytime. For eg: Today if you want to know on 15th Nov, 2008, how many transactions were there in the particular weighbridge ? So one has to the date and will get the full report on no. Of transactions, vehicle number, incoming and outgoing information and details of the customer or form where material is coming is stored in the inbuilt memory. Further the indicator can generate reports as per material, supplier, vehicle no., etc.
Platform what we are using is a M.S platform which is a mild steel structure and these are fully welded platform and we don’t recommend weighbridges with a nut bolt system because in a nut bolt systems when the truck keeps moving on the platform, so due to movement, speed and the brakes, the nut bolts become loose and your flatform will start giving noise and it’s joints will become weak and loose and you will have to keep on changing the nut bolts every now and then. Our platforms which are fully welded structures. Even after 20 yrs you will see they are intact. So we recommend fully welded structures. Our’s is a sectional frame. We don’t prefer longitudinal frames which are old designs on which if a overloaded truck comes then there will be a huge bend in the structure because longitudinal trucks are tend to bend incase of overload capacities.
But in our design we are giving cross sectional frame where only 2 main beams are there and other than that we give cross sectional frames, cross beams at ever 1-1 meter. So like this we make a cross sectional frame and on top of that there’s a plate on top of the plate there are MS flats. Those flats are given to give a anti-skid surface.
