Ferrosilicon is used to reduce metals from their oxides and to deoxidize steel and other ferrous alloys as a silicon source. Ferro Silicon is a silicon and iron alloy. Silicon serves as a potent oxidant in steel. Used mainly in particular steels and in mild steel in limited quantities. Ferro silicon is also used to make silicon, ferrous silicon alloys that are corrosion-proof and high-temperature resistant, and silicon steel for electro motors and transformer cores.
Ferrosilicon (FeSi) is an alloy of silicon and iron with a very high silicon content of between 10% and 90%. It is used as a master alloy in steel manufacturing, which is added in small quantities in order to change the properties of the melt, the freezing process and the final product.
Ferrosilicon is considered to have good abrasion resistance, excellent corrosion resistance, relatively high gravity, and high magnetism, allowing fast magnetic recovery. The melting point and density of ferrosilicon depends on its quality of silicone and is relatively inexpensive in cost.
Uses of Ferro Silicon
SIlico Manganese is composed of manganese and less of silicon and carbon. It is produced by carbothermic reduction and is a kind of ferroalloy. The alloy of manganese, silicon and iron is Silicon Manganese. It is a cost-effective combination of manganese and silicon and is typically the steel manufacturers’ product of choice. It is ingested in all steel goods and found in larger amounts in stainless steel, alloy steel and manganese steel series 200.
Silico Manganese is often used as a deoxidizer and an alloy part in steel.
The regular grade of Ferro Silico Manganese comprises 14 to 16 per cent of silicon, 65 to 68 per cent of manganese and 250 per cent of carbon. Special grades of up to 30% Si are used in the production of stainless steel.
Ferro Silico Manganese may be used as a replacement for Ferro Silicon and Ferro Manganese when added to produce various types of steel.
Both silicone and manganese have a significant impact on the properties of steel, depending on the quantity applied and the cumulative effects with other aluminium alloys. Silicon and manganese have a good oxygen sensitivity and serve as deoxidizers.
The clean steel is a result of deoxidation with SIMn. It is a liquid manganese silicate formed. he use of Ferro Silico Manganese contributes less phosphorus, carbon and nitrogen to steel compared to the FeSi 75 plus HC FeMn standard.

Uses of Ferro Manganese

It also functions as a deoxidizer and combines with sulfur in order to enhance the hot-working properties of the substance. It imparts metallurgical properties such as enhanced strength, resilience and durability.
Ferro Manganese of various grades are used in the manufacture of welding electrodes and special forms of stick electrodes as well. Low Carbon Ferro Manganese (LCFeMn) & Medium Carbon Ferro Manganese is primarily used for the production of E6013 electrodes.

Ferro Chrome is a type of ferroalloy that is used to manufacture ball-bearing steels, acid-resistant steels, tool steels and alloy steels. The electric arc carbothermic removal of chromite produces ferrochrome. In South Africa, Kazakhstan and India, which have significant domestic chromite resources, much of the global production is produced.
The composition of Ferro chrome (FeCr) is iron and chromium consisting between 70% and 50% of chromium. The largest consumer of this metal is the stainless steel and tool steel. Ferro Chrome is chromium which confers a remarkable corrosion resistance to stainless steel.
Application of Ferro Chromium
Chromium is one of the most flexible and commonly used alloy elements in steel. It offers corrosion and oxidation resistance, is a mild hardening agent, increases wear resistance and facilitates the preservation of useful intensity at elevated temperatures. Chromium is an irreplaceable part of all stainless steels; in fact, more than 70% of all chromium used in steel making is present in many steels.
Building alloy steels, most of which contain less than 3% Cr, are often used in the tonnage use of chromium. Tool steels, super alloys and other specialized metals, while also high in chromium content, are manufactured in smaller amounts and are therefore lower in over-all chromium applications. Chromium is most widely used as ferrochrome. The carbon level is the most significant factor in deciding the price difference between the various ferrochrome grades. The widespread move towards duplex processing practices such as AOD, CLU, etc. has led to a major increase in the use of high-carbon ferrochrome.
