Activated charcoal is used for the purpose of removing hydrocarbon impurities from the carrier as well as fuel gases, especially for reducing the errors in analysis while using FID. These materials have a very large surface area & pore diameter to adsorb large size hydrocarbon molecules. Activated Charcoal / Carbon material should be replaced after 1 to 2 years. Keep the activated Charcoal / Carbon at 110 C for 2 3 hrs for regeneration or its better to replace the Activated Charcoal / Carbon

High efficiency Silica gel & Molecular sieves are used for the purpose of removing moisture from the carrier gas. Silica gel is of indicating type changing its color from blue to pink on uses which have high moisture capacity. The shape of the molecular sieves is spherical, which yields high mechanical strength & low dusting. Both the materials are of regenerable type. Silica gel Material: When the colour of silica gel material changes from blue to white then it needs to be regenerated by keeping the silica gel material in oven at 110 C. The normal time frame for regeneration is approx.23 Hrs Molecular Sieve Material: The regeneration of molecular sieve should be done along with the silica gel & the regeneration is done by heating the material in oven at 125 C for approx. 2 3 Hrs.
