L type condensers are basically aircooled fin and tube condensers but are used in case of space constraint.The heat transfer can be affected if the air flow requirements are not fulfiled.But if the fans are mounted on tap and openings are provided along the entire finned length of the condenser these condensers are extremely useful and save fabrication cost.

Fins are secondary heat exchangers in an air cooled condenser and evaporator, the contact between fins and and copper tubes must be an interference fit of 0.06 mm to 0.1 mm for good conduction.Fin thickness varies from 0.12 mm to 0.14 mm.The Fins per inch (fpi) as it is referred to keeps on changing depending on application but ideally 10 fins per inch is the best solution.Hydrophilic blue fins are used in extremely high humidity and temperature areas like seashores, closed spaces in chemical industries etc as it provides and additional sacrificial layer against corrosion.Fins are basically used to increase surface area for heat transfer.
