Sovereign Liquid Glucose or Corn Syrup is a colorless, odorless, viscous sweet syrup that is manufactured from refined starch. The starch is converted i.e. hydrolyzed by means of adding enzymes. Sovereign Liquid Glucose is a mixture of Glucose, Maltose and Higher Saccharides. Sovereign Liquid Glucose/corn syrups are hydrolysis products of starch and they are all mixtures of polymers of D. Glucose. They are purified concentrated aqueous solutions of nutritive saccharides having D.E. values between 38 and 50 and a combination of mono, di, tri, tetra, penta and higher saccharides. The typical carbohydrate spectrum of the various syrups are below:



Applications

The choice of Glucose Syrup depends on the requirements of the user. Generally, a low converted syrup acts as a bodying agent. It is used as a 'Humectant' for frozen dairy products. A high converted syrup acts as a sweetening Agent. Intermediate conversions indicate that the syrup is used in the beverage, confectionery and frozen dairy products industry. In the confectionery industry, it includes sweets like toffees, caramels, galantine gums and chewing gums. Sovereign Liquid Glucose is used in the pharmaceutical industry for the manufacture of cough syrups, antacid suspensions and other mixtures. The tobacco industry uses Sovereign Liquid Glucose for the curing of tobacco leaves. This apart, Sovereign Liquid Glucose adds softness and weight gain to leather in the tanning process. It is also used as an anti-caking agent in shoe polish. Finally, Sovereign Liquid Glucose is used as a binder in the building & construction industry.

Sovereign Maize Starch is an odorless, white powder with a bland taste. Corn is one of the main sources of commercially produced starch which is the most important source of carbohydrates in the human diet. Chemically, starch is a carbohydrate. It is a polymer comprising of a range of molecular sizes. The basic mononumeric unit is Danhydroglucose. The two basic types of polymers present are Amylose and amylopectins. Amylose is a linear polymer in which essentially all of the Anhydroglucose units are linked through 1, 4-a glucosidic bonds. Amylopectins have a highly branched structure. They are larger polymers than Amylose. Starch is essentially a group of carbohydrates known as Polysaccharides i.e. multiple molecules of sugar. It is a mixture of two polysaccharides, Amylose (10-20%) and Amylopectin (80-90%). Risistarch, in its native and modified form is used extensively in the food, pharmaceutical, textile, paper, adhesive and a host of other industries. Starch is also modified to suit the individual user requirements and hence known as chemical starches. Risistarch can also be converted into a range of starch derivatives such as Liquid Glucose, Dextrose Monohydrate, Dextrose Anhydrous, Maltodextrin, Sorbitol etc.



Applications

Sovereign Maize Starch finds application in the food industries. Also used as a diluent and moisture sorting medium to protect active powders from deleterious effects of moisture. as a diluent in baking powder and in confectioner's sugar. Dusting powder in bakery industry. as moulding beds as a processing aid in the manufacture of gum candies, centers and other cast pies. It is also used as a Thickening or gelling agent & processing aids and in Baking industry-involving starch as a component of flour. Used as an additive to modify the textural properties of wheat flour, sweet goods and crackers. As a stabilizers in salad dressings. Used in the manufacture of gum candies.
