Varieties :

The major varieties produced in India are Agrifound Dark Red, Agrifound Light Red, NHRDF Red, Agrifound White, Agrifound Rose and Agrifound Red , Pusa Ratnar, Pusa Red, Pusa White Round.

 

There are specific varieties in Yellow Onion which are suitable for export to European countries Tana F1, Arad-H, Suprex, Granex 55, HA 60 and Granex 429.

 

Specifications on Quality Grading & Size : Modern packhouses for sorting, grading and packing of the quality onions are available at production centres. Guidelines have been framed to determine the compliance with Maximum Residue Level (MRL) for the identified pesticides. Grade designation and quality development parameters has been set up.

 

Grades & Tolerances :

  • Extra Class – 5 % Max. by number or weight
  • Class I -- 10% Max. by number or weight and
  • Class II -- 10% Max. by number or weight.

  • Pre-shipment Inspection: According to the specifications of AGMARK & Export Promtion Council and as per customer requirement for Weight & Quality.
  • Shipment Terms: FOB / CIF according to Inco Terms 2010 and as per customer requirement.
  • Payment Term: 30-50% Advance by TT, Remaining by Irrevocable L/C
  • Delivery to Port of Loading: 15 days from the date of receipt of Confirmed Purchase Order and Payment Instrument (L/C documents & Advance payment)

Characteristics Of Commercial Varieties Of Onion

Variety Characteristics
Agrifound Dark Red The crop is global round in shape, big in size and dark red in colour.T.S.S.is 12- 13 brix and storage quality is medium.
Agrifound Light Red The crop is global round in shape, big in size and light red in colour.T.S.S.is 13-14 brix and storage quality is good.
Agrifound Rose The crop is flattish round in shape, 2.5-3.5 cm in size and scarlet red in colour.T.S.S. is 16-18 brix and storage quality is good.
Agrifound Red The crop is 5-6 bulblets clump in shape, 2-2.5 cm in size and brick red in colour.T.S.S. is 9-10 brix and storage quality is good.
Pusa Red The crop is flattish round in shape and red in colour.Storage quality is very good.

Storage Period 3 - 5 months

 

Standard Packing : 5, 10, 20 or 25 kg in Netted PP bags or Jute bags as per customer (country) requirement. Generally there are 60 fills per 10kg bag of onion.
