Telescoping valves are designed to control the height of liquid within a pond, reservoir, or other holding chamber. In modern sewage treatment facilities, water treatment plant one specific use is to control the level of effluent in settling basins. The filter represents a new approach to the removal of the nuisance causing impurities in chlorine gas . this filter has two chambers. The lower portion acts as a liquid trap for liquid impurities(reliquified gas /or foam droplets from the vaporizer). The sudden enlargement decreases the velocity, so that gas is unable to carry entrained droplets of liquid chlorine which is high in ferric chloride. The upper portion has a removable filter. The filter element is especially so that the ferric chloride “plates out” rapidly as it passes through the element. Therefore, the filter acts as both a filter and a condensate liquid trap.
Facts about impurities in chlorine gasThe principal impurity is FERRIC CHLORIDE. This is inherent in chlorine gas because it is packaged in a steel containers. The amount or ferric chloride that deposits out in a chlorine gas system is a function of the quantity of chlorine used. There is no convenient way of removing impurities from liquid chlorine. Impurities will always precipitate out of gas when it reliquifies.
Self operated spring loading pressure reducing valve is designed for handling corrosive fluids. To obtain redued pressure, load the loading screw. There by lifting the nozzle for balancing of load spring to the desired regulated pressure. Diaphragm, body and nozzle are selected for corrosion resistant materials.For safe operation of vaporizer the pressure of chlorine gas coming from vapourizer is reduced from 0.5 kg/cm² to 3.5 kg/cm²

Principle of OperationMotive Water (water at high pressure) passes through the injector to produce vacuum. This vacuum extends upto Vacuum Regulator. The chlorine gas received (from Tonnes / Cylinders under pressure this regulator is in build regulating system when we control the flow of chlorine through flow control valve the pressure regulate automatic and gas flow through a Rotameter to injector where chlorine and water mixes .

VAPOURIZER is of heavy duty construction with all pressure parts in contact with chlorine liquid or gas of extra heavy pipe with a minimum of 3 mm corrosion allowance on chlorine side and 1.5mm corrosion allowance on steam side.x
In operation the liquid is introduced through liquid inlet which is piped to the bottom of the vapourizer tube by a dip pipe. Here the liquid rises to contact sufficient surface to supply vapour demand rate. After equilibrium is reached vapourizer operates at essentially liquid line pressure As gas demand is reduced. Vapourizer pressure raises, reducing the flow of liquid feed. On sudden shut down of gas valve, liquid Would be forced out of vaporizing chamber back to the container.
With evaporation the vapour raises through the vapour baffle to the super heating chamber. Enters the indicated parts of the suction trap and leaves through the gas outlet.
The steam chamber has nipple connections for steam inlet condensate outlet pressure gauge and pressure relief valve, insulation on shell must be done by the client.
Two numbers single tonner connection manifold are provided. When first tonner is getting empty, second tonner line will open automatically through inter lock system for which 3 way ball valve with electric actuator (8) and pressure switches (6) are installed for auto operation chlorine tonner valve and corresponding valves should be kept open.Note :- before admitting liquid chlorine to vaporizer system. Steam shall be admitted first. So that vaporizer body will be heated and ready to receive liquid chlorine. The steam pressure shall be 1.0 kg/cm unless steam pressure is available in vaporizer steam chamber. Automatic shut off valve (8) on manifold and auto shut off valve (19) on chlorine gas line will not open so that flooding of liquid chlorine is avoided .from manifold liquid chlorine will be fed to vaporizer through dip pipe. As soon as liquid chlorine is fed, gas is formed . please note that chlorine gas coming out will be at least 3 to 5c above room temperature.
The chlorine gas coming out of vaporizer passes through chlorine gas filter (16) where all impurities like ferric chloride will be trapped. The filtered gas will pass through automatic shut off valve (19) which is inter locked with pressure switch on steam chamber. As the gas reaches pressure reducing valve where chlorine gas pressure will be reduced from 8 kg/cm to 0.5 to 3 kg/cm. the outlet of pressure reducing valve is taken to system bye oass valves (17) are provided in case pressure reducing valve is taken for maintenance.
Excess pressure:-Chlorine vaporizer should be equipped with pressure relief valve to protect the system against rupture spring loaded safety valve are combined in series with a frangible disc ( rupture disc). The rupture disc is 19 to 21 kg//cm rupture pressure. Because of this pressure relief valve opens when reupture disc burst vent connection shall be taken to chlorine absorption system.
Expansion chamber on liquid chlorine line:During operation incase automatic shut off valve closes pressure will be developed in liquid chlorine line. In order to reduce the pressure in the line expansion chamber with rupture disc is provided. The repture disc bursts at 19 to 21 kg/cm and liquid chlorine enters empty cylinder. Because of this action pressure in the line reduces.
The evaporator tube is constructed of specified materials for 64.5 kg/cm (920 psi ) pressure and 120 c (250 f ) temperature. Flanges are of class 300 ( ANSI B 16.5 1968 ) and the pipe is of sch 80 (ASA B 36.10 1950).

In order to have uninterrupted chlorine gas supply to chlorination system necessary manifolds.Motorised valves and control panel are provided. Chlorine tonner are connected to manifold in which pressure gauge and pressure switch are installed. Pressure gauge indicates the chlorine tonner pressure and pressure switch actuate the electrically operated ball valve. Pressure switch is set at 1.0 kg/cm that means chlorine cylinder is getting empty.
Filled tonner connected to manifold. All tonners valve are kept opened so that manifolds are under pressurized condition. Switch on the auto change over panel and keep the selector switch in auto mode now as soon as panel is energized electrically operated valve manifold I will open first. Even though manifold ll is pressurized , manifold ll side valve will not operate due to inter lock system.
As plant is in operation, chlorine gas will be consumed and tonner pressure may be coming down.When pressure switch actuator and alarm will come and electrically operated ball valve on manifold l will close and valve on manifold ll will open simultaneously. This system will be in operation till chlorine gas pressure is above 1.0 kg/cm at the manifold. During this period fresh filled cylinders may be connected to manifold and kept ready for operation. As explained earlier, chlorine pressure started going below 1.0 kg/cm, alarm will be there and manifold l valve in opened thus the operation of auto change over system continues.
NOTE:- kindly note that when the manifold pressure is 1.0 kg/cm the chlorine tonner is not fully empty there will be at least one or two kg of chlorine will be available. It is not advisable to send chlorine cylinders for refilling with so much of chlorine left over. This left over chlorine shall be exhausted by keeping auto/manual selector switch in manual mode and operate corresponding push button stations and electrically operated valve can be opened. Keep the valve in open position till chlorine pressure comes to 0.2 kg/cm . pressing off push button, valve will be closed. Similar way manifold ll side shall be operated. During this operation no need of opening bypass valves. During manifold-ll is in operation fresh filled tonner may be connected to manifold l and kept ready for auto operation.
