SUNTECH Modular Pad Thrust Bearings are designed to withstand with high axial loads from rotating shafts collar surface with rapidly minimization of power loss, while simplifying installation and maintenance. SUNTECH make thrust bearing assembly is suitable for a range of shaft diameter and the maximum loads for the various bearing types range from 0.5 to 500 tonne. Bearings of larger size and load capacity can be made to special order. Each bearing consists of a series of pads supported in a carrier ring; each pad is free to tilt so as to create a self-sustaining hydrodynamic film. The carrier ring may be in one piece or in halves, and there are various location of pad to pad locking arrangement.

Suntech slide bearings are usually designed based on the principle of hydrodynamic lubrication which increases its reliability. When the calculation design and manufacturing conditions permit this type of lubrication, the slide bearings will fulfil all the requirements expected of them.
It has been proven that plain cylindrical bearings built-up its carrying oil wedge by making possible clearance between bearing shell and shaft due to its eccentric position (converging film). Now a days various special geometry design has been implanted which are also based on hydrodynamic calculation as per DIN 31657.
The angle of pad tilt and the maximum film pressure and temperatures are directly take effect on Thrust Bearing operational excellence . The pads leading edge tilts open to provide a converging wedge to produce hydrodynamic load. The resultant load vector passes through the pad pivot
As the maximum pressure is located not at the pad pivot location, but at some angle with rotation from the pivot. Thus, temperature sensors should be placed downstream from the pivot. A good rule-of-thumb is to locate the sensor at the 75 percent position as in Tilting Pad Journal Bearings. That is, at 75 percent of the total pad arc length from the leading edge, Suntech Designed Tilting Pad Journal Bearings have all required advantages to fulfil all hydrodynamic effect.

for horizontal units (assembly), explanation of guide pads is quite not suitable because they directly counteract also with the weight of rotating parts anyway, depending on their behaviour and application we can classified the bearing in two main types :
when there is no appreciable deformation of the shaft line stiff pads are used and generally tilting pads are used where journal is required some self-alignment properties. for vertical units (assembly) , the main function is to keep the shaft aligned vertically and support any radial force that can take place during the operation. the tilting guide pads are usually adopted to bear the operational load only.

DIN standard Bearings DIN standard Bearings along with it's suitable Housings together and other required accessories makes a complete assembly. Basically there are three types of standard assemblies, which are available according to their applications.
Depending on the operating conditions, the bearing housings are supplied either with fins or as a smooth design.(Flange bearings are finned design only.) In standard Bearing Housings are available with high-rigidity Grey cast iron (IS 210) or specification can be modified as per customer requirements. Housings are positioned with Inlet, Outlet, Shell & Sump thermometer entry andother positions can also be made as per customer requirements.
The bearing shells are spherically seated in the housing .This means simple assembly as well as suitability for high static and also dynamic axial and radial loads. Forged bearing shells with white metal lining (min 3mm.) have sufficient hold for different applications. Modular assembly system includes axial design B, K and A (with R.D pad) type. Usually bearing shells can with cylindrical or two- lobe be fitted with loose oil rings. The perfect metallic bond between steel and bearing metal is guaranteed by the specified ultrasonic tests which are carried out in the course of manufacturing.
Floating labyrinth seals are sufficient to achieve by using additional labyrinth for most of the applicationsandRigid seals are also available for Special application. Seals are also available on basis of requirement of high oil throughput. The assembly is sealed with an end of Protection Class IP 44, IP 55 and IP56 etc all the seals are designed in such a way that it helps to achieve the optimum Bearing Performance.
The loose oil ring normally provides a sufficient oil supply subjected to verification of operating temperature being within limit. However, the bearings are always set up to an oil supply system. The oil ring ensures emergency lubrication in the event of a malfunction of the supply system.
The bearings also can be insulated to prevent shaft currents. In an insulated bearing all contacts of housing with shaft or bearing bush is made through insulated component such as guide pin bush, seal carrier bolts and Nylon bush.
Heat generated in the bearing is usually dissipated through radiation and convection. Greater dissipation can be achieved by fitting an oil cooler in sump or connecting the system with an oil supply.
Both lateral surfaces of the bearing can be equipped with connections to measure the temperature. Identical and interchangeable provisions have been made to accommodate temperature detector, one each from each side for oil sump and bearing bush.
Recommended shaft details are provided with the GA Drawing after PO. The journal bearing dia and required shaft tolerance are further calculated on the basis the outputs of Hydrodynamic Bearing calculations. Any deviation from the recommended shaft diaand tolerance to be informed to us for further check.

SUNTECH make Vertical Bearings are anexclusive self-reliant assembly includes a thrust collar, thrust andjournal bearing pads, cooling device and outer covering. Ancillary features are assimilatedto meet customer need. Radial and axial loads are transmitted through the thrust collar to the correspondingthrust and journal pads which support the load by producing and supporting hydrodynamic oil film. SUNTECH make PTFE coated thrust pads are operated safely at minimal oil film thicknesses, allows approximately two times the specific load capacity normally associated with white metal bearings and thrust pads. Our PTFE coated thrust pads mostly used in large hydro-generator applications, whereby advantages of PTFE could improve the reliability Roto -dynamic machines. Now a days PTFE coated thrust pads are often specified as first choice for hydro-applications and has been shown to have clear advantages for small pad applications in more standardised rotodynamic applications.

floating insulated oil seal ip 44 type 10.a product that has a rating of ip44 means that it is protected against solid objects that are bigger than 1mm and water splashing from all directions. this type of sealing systems are used where freely movable arrangement is required to insensitive radial shaft displacement. after the bearing housing has been installed and aligned on the base frame or foundation, the seal carrier can be fitted using non hardening sealing compound .
