Electrical Conductor #6319858

Aluminium Conductors, Steel-Reinforced (ACSR)

aluminium conductors, steel-reinforced (acsr) is a concentric-lay-stranded conductor consisting of galvanized steel central core with one or more layers of hard drawn stranded 1350-h19aluminium wires laid helically over the steel core. Steel core wires are protected from corrosion by class a, b or class c galvanization.the core can be single wire or stranded depending on the size of the conductors.acsr offers optimal strength for line design. Variable steel core stranding enables desired strength to be achieved without sacrificing ampacity.

the acsr conductor can, against any given resistance, be manufactured to different tensile strengths, so a high tensile strength combined with its lightweight properties means it can cover longer distances with fewer supports. Due to the greater diameter of the acsr conductor, a much higher corona limit can be obtained which is advantageous on high and extra high voltage overhead lines.

Aluminium Alloy Conductor Steel Reinforced Conductors (AACSR)

Aluminium Alloy Conductor Steel Reinforced Conductors (AACSR) is a concentrically stranded conductor composed of one or more layers of 6201-T81 Aluminium Alloy (Aluminium-Magnesium-Silicon) wire stranded with a high-strength coated steel core. The core may be single wire or stranded depending on the size. The proportions of aluminium alloy and steel can be varied to obtain the relation between current carrying capacity and mechanical strength best suited to each application.

Core wire for AACSR is available with Class A, B or C-galvanized; aluminized (AZ): or aluminium clad (AW) coating to provide protection from corrosion.Additional corrosion protection is available through the application of grease to the core or infusion of the complete cable with grease.

AACSR Conductors have approx. 40% to 60% more strength than comparable standard ACSR with only 8 to 10% decrease in conductivity.

Aluminium Conductors, Aluminium-Clad Steel Reinforced (ACSR/AW)

aluminium conductors, aluminium-clad steel reinforced (acsr/aw) is a concentric-lay-stranded conductor consisting of aluminium-clad steel central core (alumoweld) with one or more layers of hard drawn stranded 1350-h19aluminium wires. Alumoweld is a highly resistant steel rod, covered with a thick coating of pure aluminium, which is cold-drawn to obtain wires of the required diameters.

the design and dimensions of acsr/aw conductors are identical to those of ordinary acsr conductors, except the steel core in acsr conductor, which is aluminium-clad steel core in acsr/aw.

Bare Stranded Soft-Drawn Copper Conductors (SDC)

Construction:

Bare stranded soft-drawn (annealed) copper conductor is a concentric-lay-stranded conductor consisting of annealed copper wires available in both single layer and multi-layer constructions.

Application:

Bare stranded soft-drawn (annealed) copper conductor is suitable for uninsulated hook up, jumpers and grounding conductors in electrical construction, where high conductivity and flexibility are required.

Applicable Standard:

Bare stranded soft-drawn (annealed) copper conductor can be supplied to meet various International Standards as follows:

  • IEC 60228
  • BS EN 60228

However, Suraj Cables can also supply a range of alternative designs to meet customer-specified requirements.

All Aluminium Conductors (AAC)

All Aluminium Conductors (AAC) is a concentric-lay-stranded conductor consisting of hard drawn 1350 H19aluminium wires available in both single layer and multi-layer constructions.

AAC conductor is also known as Aluminium Stranded Conductor. It is manufactured from electrolytically refined aluminium, with a minimum metal purity of 99.7% The EC grade Alloy Conductor has a minimum conductivity of 61.2% IACS.

Applications:

These conductors are used in low, medium and high voltage overhead lines. AAC has seen extensive use in urban areas where spans are usually short but high conductivity us required. The excellent corrosion resistance of aluminium has made AAC a conductor of choice in coastal areas. Because of its relatively poor strength to weight ratio, AAC has limited use in transmission lines and rural distribution where long spans are required.

AAC (All Aluminium conductor) is the most economical bare overhead conductor due to its lighter weight and it offers easier handling during installation and use of simpler fittings. The wire is corrosion resistant due to its homogeneous construction.

All Aluminium-Alloy Conductors (AAAC)

all aluminium-alloy conductors (aaac) is a concentric-lay-stranded conductor consisting of aluminium-alloy wires available in both single layer and multi-layer constructions. Aaac conductor is made from aluminium-magnesium-silicon alloy of high electrical conductivity containing magnesium (0.6-0.9%) & silicon (0.5-0.9%) to give it better mechanical properties after treatment.

this conductor has a minimum conductivity of 52.5% iacs.

applications:

all aluminium-alloy conductors (aaac) can be used in medium, high and extra-high voltage transmission lines. Aaac offers better sag performance due to the high strength-to-weight ratio provided by the aluminium-alloy. In addition, aaac provides a higher corrosion resistance than acsr conductors. Also, it has higher tensile strength as compared to aac conductor.

aaac are of lighter weight and provides higher conductivity as compared to acsr conductor. Also, they have better corrosion resistance than acsr conductor.

this has given aaac a wide acceptance in the distribution and transmission lines
