Liberalization of Indian economy in mid 1990s’ ushered in a plethora of opportunities for Indian businesses. Enterprising business owners gave new dimensions to their businesses by expansion, diversification and joint ventures. Everest Electricals, our parent company was one of them. Being a prominent trading house of electrical panel board accessories, Everest entered the field of manufacturing cable ties, security seals, and wiring accessories in 1998 under the name of Surelock Plastics Pvt. Ltd.

The foundation of establishing ourselves as leaders in India’s cable ties industry was laid by Mr. Rameshchandra Mehta. He started his career in 1961 with an electrical contracting firm as an assistant and a wireman. The sky was the limit for the young entrepreneur and soon he crossed the boundaries of trading activities by entering manufacturing. A production unit for making cable markers, street light pole boxes and related products for electrical industry was set up in Mumbai.

The turning point in the business came with the entry of the younger generation. Mr. Pratik Mehta & Mr. Kaushal Mehta, two scions of the second generation entered the business in 1990s’ and the business horizons expanded. Indian industry was solely relying on imported nylon cable ties and the promoters saw an opportunity of producing “made in India” cable ties, security seals, and wiring accessories. The largest manufacturing plant in India by Surelock Plastics Pvt. Ltd. was set up in Rabale, Navi Mumbai with a production capacity of 1 million pieces per day. The operations expanded many folds and in 2009, the company has reached a production capacity of 10 million pieces per day.
