Usage of Li-Ion battery is increasing exponentially in various sectors such as mobiles, automobile, defense, aerospace, etc.
SIL has recently developed battery welding machine for Li-Ion batteries. These batteries are made of prismatic containers having materials like Al, Al alloy, SS or OFHC Copper. These machines are used for welding can-caps, terminals, fill tubes, tabs, etc. The components can have thicknesses from 0.5 mm upto 3 mm.
Type of Lasers that can be used are either CW or QCW fiber Laser. The machine produces positioning accuracy of better than 10 µm and positioning speed > 18 m/min.
Other important features are welding process monitoring thru video camera, power ramping & pulse shaping, welding head with wobble motion, seam tracking with path compensation to name a few.
