Biomass briquetting is the process of converting high bulk, low density biomass into high density, energy concentrated fuel briquettes. The process of converting biomass to solid fuel involves drying, cutting, grinding and pressing briquettes into cylindrical shapes, with or without the help of binder. By compressing the wastes into briquettes they become easier to transport, store and burn. They give much higher boiler efficiency because of their low moisture and higher density. They do not contain sulphur , which as it burns pollutes the environment Densification of biomass particularly agriculture residues forest waste by an mechanical process without binders at 100 Mpa pressure and 280 C temperature termed as biomass briquette or white coal. This is having capabilities to replace coal, firewood, FO, LPG, LSHS and other industrial fuels. It is often termed as white coal because of its color as generally all the coals available are in black while it is in grey color. And having properties like low ash content, no sulfur emission, smokeless, no fly ash which make it Eco-friendly.
