ACSR or Aluminium Conductor Steel Reinforced Wires are, as the name suggests, reinforced, high strength, high capacity stranded aluminium conductors that are used in the transmission of electricity through overhead power lines. Made up of several metal strands, the outer strands of ACSR wires are made of an extremely high grade of pure aluminium owing to its properties of excellent conductivity, low weight and cost effectiveness. ACSR and many of its variations, finds widespread adoption due to the special characteristics each of the standards offer that justify the additional expense. The core strand is steel, which owing to its high tensile strength and lower elasticity, lends support to the reinforced cable and ensures that the conductor does not sag under its weight. Hot-dipped High Tensile Galvanised Steel or HTGS wires is the preferred grade of steel alloy. Manufacturers of HTGS wires take great care in ensuring a high standard of fabrication owing to the high-risk nature of their environment and the rigorousness of their application.

Advantages
  • We supply wires in length as well as weight measurement.
  • Our wire quality has been approved by the leading conductor manufacturing companies, such as Apar and Sterlite.
  • Our efforts to maintain consistent physical properties result in high cost savings for our customers.
  • We provide single as well as stranded wires.

Flat Cable Armour Wire

Galvanised steel also finds usage in the crafting of gabions to hold rock, concrete, sand or other such typically employed in civil engineering, landscaping and building of roads where the risk of corrosion runs high. Steel wires drawn with the express purpose of making gabions require high process controls to ensure that the final product does not suffer from flaking. The testing phase for these galvanised steel wires is extensive and mandates that the wires are flexible and have high tensile strength, making them conducive for gabions. Manufacturers prefer having an in house facility for drawing steel wires and galvanising them, thus having a higher degree of quality control in place. Gabions made from hot dip galvanised wires that have a uniform surface finish, a surface that is free from high points, offer an even greater degree of protection in corrosive environments and in areas where there exists a higher percentage of pollutants in the environment.

SS Wire For General Purpose

Stainless steel, an alloy of steel that is comprised of a minimum of 10.5% chromium by mass, has innumerable industrial applications owing to its high level of resistance to corrosion. Because of this, stainless steel is used in commercial kitchens and food processing plants since it does not require a coat of paint or any other surface finishes for protection against corrosive environments and can be sterilised with relative ease. Stainless steel manufacturers deal in multiple grades, of which there are over 150, and surface finishes depending on the environment the alloy will be subjected to. The alloy, often moulded into coils, sheets, plates, wires and tubing, is used in the production of high-grade surgical instruments, architectural constructs, vehicular exhaust systems, subsea pipelines, pressure vessels in the Oil and Gas industry and in its most basic form, cutlery and utensils for the household. Another key attribute of stainless steel is the fact that it is 100% recyclable and there happens to be a commercial market for reusable scrap in the form of coils and sheets.

Galvanized Wire

Galvanisation is an industrial process by which a coating of zinc is applied to sheets of steel or iron to act as a protective layer against corrosion, most commonly in the form of rusting. By immersing a sheet of iron or stainless steel in a molten bath, the metal is alloyed with a layer of zinc, which prevents corrosive elements from reaching the underlying metal. The coated sheet of stainless steel is then used much in the same way as an uncoated sheet would be and is drawn into wires or other industrial applications. Even when scratched, zinc acts as a sacrificial element and protects the exposed metal from reacting with the environment by corroding first. Manufacturers tend to prefer galvanised steel to stainless steel because the former proves more cost efficient and has a relatively longer life cycle. In areas where the tensile strength of stainless steel also requires further strengthening in terms of corrosion resistance, hot dip galvanised steel finds a vast array of applications in roofing, walling, safety handrails and so on.

Advantages

Our bright and smooth finish zinc-coated galvanized wire is:

  • Highly resistant to moisture

  • Resistant to mechanical damage (than other surface coatings)
