Fucoxanthin also be called Fuco. It's a kind of pigment mainly contained in brown algae, diatoms, chrysophytes and Eustigmatophyte. Reddish-brown crystalline may be produced when it's separated. Fucoxanthin is a kind of xanthophyl and it is the substance that causes the brown algae to appear brown. Fucoxanthin can be considered as the specific pigment of brown algae, sometimes it can be found in diatoms or other algae.

Characters:  Reddish brown or brownish Brown powder, easy soluble in ethanol, insoluble in water, sensitive to light, should be protected from light.
