Alesse (Ethinyl Estradiol and Levonorgestrel) is a combination prescription contraception medication to prevent pregnancy. Birth control pills may also make your periods regular, decrease blood loss and painful periods, decrease your risk of ovarian cysts and it also treats your acne. Alesse contains progestin and estrogen. This medication works by preventing the release of an egg during your menstrual cycle. It causes changes in the mucus of the cervix, which makes it difficult for sperm to penetrate and for an egg to implant.
Progesterone is a hormone that is naturally produced by the body. Norethisterone is a period delay tablet which functions similar to this particular hormone. A woman will be required to take one tablet of this within three times a day. This should be accomplished 3 days prior to a womans period and should be continued on for a maximum of fourteen (14) more days. This makes a total of seventeen (17) days. By taking this, a womans period will be delayed during the whole process and is estimated to start within three days after the last period delay tablet is taken.
