Electromagnetic brakes eventually depend on friction and eddy current brakes use magnetic force directly. Trams and trains use electromagnetic track brakes where the braking element is pushed by magnetic force to the rail. They are distinguished from mechanical track brakes, where the braking element is mechanically pressed on the rail. Crane Duty Motor

Crane Duty motors are designed to have high starting torque with low starting currents. These characteristics ensure that the motors have high acceleration torques that are required in frequent start/ stop applications. These motors can serve as auxiliary motors in rolling mills or wherever intermittent drives are required. These are duty type rated motors developing high starting torque with low starting current. The motors are suitable for frequent starts/stops and reversals. Also rapid acceleration is achieved by high pull out torque/rotor inertia ratio.


Crane duty motors are suitable for 3 phase supply and can be wound for any single voltage from 220 to 650 volts and frequencies from 40 hz to 60 hz. The motors are rated at 400C ambient temperature. For temperatures other than 400C, a duration factor has to be applied as indicated below.

Brake Motors supplies the means of slowing or stopping the driven equipment effectively and safely in very short period of time. The brake unit mounted on the non-driven end of the motor. They are mechanism applied electrically released units, which provides fail to secure operating characteristics such that on interruption or failure of power supply, the brake will engage and arrest the load.


UE Brake motors consist of an initiation motor coupled to a disc brake, forming an integrated compact and robust component. The unit is UE TEFC, and has the same performance characteristics of UE TEFC range of motors. The brake is of sturdy construction with little moving parts which ensures extensiv e durability with a least of maintenance.
