Boron Carbide Powder is manufactured from boric acid and powdered carbon in electric furnace under high temperature. It just follows diamond and cubic boron nitride as the hardest existing material. This property makes it a candidate material for grinding and lapping grits as well as for blasting use. Its melting point up to 2450 and theory density of 2.52g/cm3 make it has the advantage of high temperature resistance and low specific gravity. Also with the factors of corrosion resistant, low thermal conductivity and high modulus of elasticity, boron carbide is used in security relevant parts in energy technology and utilized as an ideal material for wide applications.
Applications : - Abrasives for lapping and ultrasonic cutting
- Anti-oxidant in carbon-bonded refractory mixes
- Armor Nuclear applications such as reactor control rods and neutron absorbing shielding
- Wear parts such as blasting nozzles, wire-drawing dies, powdered metal and ceramic forming dies, thread guides, etc.
