Carbon Fiber Fabrics

We are proud to say that our name is synonymous with the advent of Carbon Fiber and Fiberglass Fabrics in India. We have developed over hundreds of varieties, for an equal number of end applications. It would fill pages if we were to list all different styles of fabrics that we have made. Suffice it to say that we can manufacture almost any type of woven fabric be the fabric as per Indian, American, German, Russian, British, Japanese or French standards. We can weave fabrics from a thickness of 1 mil to 100 mil (i.e., 0.025 mm to 2.5 mm). It is routine for us to weave plain, satin, twill, basket, leno, mock-leno, jacquard, tubular and even uni-directional weaves on our fleet of looms.

Processed Glass Fabrics are available with de-sizing and silane treatment to be used with Epoxy, Polyester or Phenolic resins. Coatings of PTFE, Neoprene, Silicone, Viton, Graphite, Vermeculite etc etc are made available almost off-the-shelf to meet demanding applications.

Carbon Fabrics are woven from 1K, 3K, 6K, 12K, in any weave required. UD CARBON fabrics are also manufactured in-house. Our state of the art facilities specially dedicated for weaving of Carbon fabrics under controlled temperatures prevent contamination. Import of Carbon fabrics has become a history. Aerospace, Sports, Composite and other industries who are conscious of using such high-tech fabrics can now breathe easy as their requirements can be met so easily.

Aramid Fabrics meant for various applications like manufacturing of gloves, bullet proof vests, car linings, etc are woven as per requirements of exacting customers.

Fiberglass Filter Fabric

By definition filtration means removing one substance or material from another generally by a mechanical or physical operation. The process of air filtration involves separation of solids from gases by interposing a barrier through which only the clean gas can pass. This barrier is known as a filter medium. A filter medium must satisfy the requirements of efficient flow rate, satisfactory mechanical and chemical resistance and quality of filtrate or cake. Dust particles pollute the air and therefore adequate filtration is necessary prior to their discharge. Environmental regulations have become more demanding and it is our moral responsibility to save and protect our environment. It is obligatory on the part of industry to ensure that air being emitted is clean, without dust or harmful chemicals.

Baghouse is a generic name for Air Pollution Control Equipment. Fabric filters commonly known as bag-houses comprise an array of long narrow bags that are suspended in large enclosures. Several bags typically in the diameter of 120mm to 400mm and length of 2mtr to 10mtr are arranged vertically in this enclosure. These bags are used to filter dust particles from dusty gasses. Dust laden gas enters the baghouse and pass through the fabric bags that act as filters. The gas passes upwards/downwards through the bag and leaves behind a cake of dust outside/inside the bag. Common types of Bag-houses are Mechanical Shaker, Reverse Air, Pulse Jet and the new Hybrid bag-houses.

Filter Bags are woven or non-woven in nature. Urja is in the field of manufacturing only woven fabrics from Fiberglass. The count of yarn and weave pattern can be altered to determine the pore size for filtration. Fiberglass is strong, durable, chemically resistant and non-hygroscopic in nature. Long tubular bags stitched from Fiberglass Fabrics are used for hot flue gas filtration. Special finishes or coatings are imparted on theses fabrics to ensure adequate filtration. A commonly used mixture of graphite, silicone and PTFE has been used since many years. Urja offers specific fabrics for demanding applications and chemical attacks.

Fiberglass Fabrics

Since early 70s Fiberglass Fabrics have found an interesting application for filtration and uniform distribution of molten aluminium. Oxides are generated when molten aluminium comes in contact with oxygen in air. Chemical reactions occur at high temperatures particularly during melting, be it primary melting, foundry casting or recycling. Oxides must be removed before the metal is cast and this is the stage where fiberglass fabrics and articles made there from are used to give better casting results. The simplest form of application is directly as a cut piece of filter fabric. Evolved shapes stitched from glass fabrics like Combo Bags, Channel Bags, Spout Socks, Funnels, and Launder Socks are also used. These articles help to reduce turbulence, filter oxides as well as improve temperature distribution throughout the ingot.

These fabrics are treated with resinous chemicals to stabilize the weave. Molten metal is filtered through this mesh. Number of yarns used will determine the strength of the fabric during filtration. This will also control the amount of flow of liquid aluminium. Smoke free fabrics are also available as a thermal treatment is imparted on the fabric.

Urja is one of the largest manufacturers of glass fabrics suitable for filtration of molten aluminium and is well recognized by over 250 aluminium companies in over 15 countries.

Fiberglass filter fabrics are woven in either plain or leno weaves. Plain weave is used where fine filtration is required and Leno weave fabrics are used where mesh size required is more open. A leno weave locks yarns in the fabric and this gives more dimensional stability.

Customers can order fabrics in any width up to 1500mm. Cut pieces of different sizes and shapes are also available

Ptfe Fabric

  • Thickness 0.07
PTFE (Polytetra-fluoro-ethylene) is a synthetic fluoropolymer accidentally invented by Roy Plunkett that finds numerous applications. It is well known by the DuPont band name Teflon. PTFE is a material of remarkable properties; non-stick, friction-free, self-lubricating, non-wetting, non-flammable, non-brittle, non-toxic, resistant to atmospheric conditions, resistant to fungus growth and resistant to all chemicals (except molten alkali metals and fluorine at elevated temperatures and pressures). Its electrical properties are equally outstanding. All properties are maintained over a wide working temperature range of -200oC to +350oC.
