The American Water Works Association was founded on March 29th 1881 by a group of men representing water utilities in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky and Tennessee. They worked together to identify uniform requirements for waterworks systems. The original ANSIAWWA C207 steel pipe flange specification was officially adopted in 1955. The latest revision committee was led by the President of CAB Incorporated, Mike Vanderbosch, who has some of the industry's most extensive knowledge on AWWA flanges.
