The precision Waterjet cutting services offered by Dresco, provides contract and job shop customers with quality guaranteed work, backed up by personalized customer service. This service features minimal setup and fixturing time, with no retooling between jobs, and allows for multiple parts to be cut in a single pass. Our process also provide narrow width cutting which saves on materials. With the capability to work with metals, plastic polymers, and non-metals such as stone, composites, and glass, we can meet the needs of almost any customer. Our 2-axis water cutting equipment uses garnet abrasive as the cutting medium, with waterjet pressure of 50, 000 psi, and a cutting speed of 180"min. We can cut material up to 6" thick, up to 96" long, and up to 48" wide. This service can achieve tolerances of ±.003" to .005", accuracy to ±.003", repeatability of ±.002", squareness of .002"ft, and straightness of .003"ft. We do set up, in-process, and final inspections and perform quality controls with optical comparators, digital height gages, thread gages and various other pieces of inspection equipment to ensure quality. Dresco has been manufacturing precision steel components for over thirty years. A good example of our capabilities is the steel housing highlighted here. It was designed for use in a military vehicles commanders hatch. Composed of steel plate and aircraft quality 4130 alloy steel, we employed numerous capabilities in its manufacture. Raw material was cut on our waterjets and further machined on CNC mills. Other components were turned on CNC lathes and further machined in secondary operations. The whole assembly was welded and then final machined and honed. To maintain the highest quality during this process, our team employed dimensional and visual inspections throughout manufacture to ensure that that all dimensions and tolerances were met. A number of other processes were utilized to finish this assembly including phosphate, dry lube coating and painting. This housing was manufactured in compliance with various industry and military standards including AWS D1.1, MIL-STD-1261, MIL-STD-171 and MIL-STD-130 to name a few. We produced 212 of these housings for our customer and shipped to Anniston, Alabama with a turnaround time of just 12-14 weeks. When a customer in the defense industry needed an internal mount for a military vehicle, Dresco Machining & Fabrication was contracted to employ our advanced metal fabrication capabilities. To fabricate this assembly, two types of aluminum alloy were used: 5052-H32 with a thickness of .125" to .250", and 6061-T6 with a thicknessoverall diameter of .750". These components were constructed under stringent quality control, with dimensional and visual inspection performed throughout the process. Processes applied for fabrication included Waterjet cutting, hydraulic press bending and forming, CNC turning, and welding. To finish this assembly, we deburred, painted, and marked each part, adhering to the customer's specifications detailed in 2D CAD drawings throughout the process. The final product met a host of military and industry standards, including ASTM B209, ASTM B221, and MIL-DTL-5541 Type II Class 1A, among others. Our plant was able to produce 111 of these assemblies in a turnaround time of just 6 to 8 weeks for our client in Auburn, Washington. With 30 years of experience in machining and fabrication, Dresco was the prefect choice for an OEM that needed a variety of components for a machine build with quick delivery. The individual parts were produced from 304 stainless sheet, 6061 aluminum sheet and rubber sheet. Quantities varied depending on how many were required on the machine, but ranged from 2 pieces to 150 pieces each. Tolerances were as tight as +-. 005’’.
