ISE Controls has been selecting and selling various laser scanners for many years. A laser scanner is used to scan an area that is considered to be dangerous and warn people of the impending danger or in more severe instances, stop the machine when someone violates the scanned area. The scanner is preprogrammed to look at a certain area within its sensing distance. When something is detected in the programmed area that was not there when it was programmed it sends a signal that the area has been violated. Common applications are robotic cells and Automatic Guided Vehicles. Hokuyo manufactures a laser scanner that physically is very small in comparison to the completion, but has features such as a 270 degree viewing angle and 32 preprogrammed zones that set it apart from the others.
