Technical Grade Boric Acid Powder is composed primarily of HBO (boric acid), with a typical boron oxide (BO) content of approximately 56–58%. It has a melting point of around 170°C and a molecular weight of 61.83 g/mol. The powder is white, odorless, and has a fine crystalline texture with excellent solubility in hot water and glycerol. It maintains a pH of around 5.0 when dissolved in water, functioning as a mild acid and effective buffering agent. It is chemically stable under normal storage conditions and compatible with most industrial additives. Applications include use as a flux in welding and soldering, a preservative in wood treatment, a pH stabilizer in electroplating and industrial coolants, and as an additive in glass and enamel to improve thermal and chemical durability. It is also used in agricultural micronutrients, pest control formulations, and cosmetics (non-pharmaceutical grade only).
