Gaskets are a type of seal that fills the space between two surfaces under compression to prevent leakage. They can often fill the gap between two mating surfaces that have minor irregularities. Gaskets are commonly supplied from cellulose, rubber, silicone, metal, cork, felt, neoprene, nitrile rubber, fiberglass, or a plastic polymer.
