20 AWG type K (Chromel Alumel) thermocouples nickel based and exhibit good corrosion resistance. It is the most common sensor calibration type providing the widest operating temperature range. Due to its reliability and accuracy the Type K thermocouple is used extensively at temperatures up to 2300F the thermocouples braded with high temperature fiberglass and has color coding. Each conductor is covered with a color coded, high temperature fiberglass braid. This braid is then impregnated to enhance abrasion resistance and reduce fraying. The insulated conductors are laid parallel and covered with another braid of high temperature fiberglass and impregnation.
