We hereby introduce a GPS based, Digital Marking and Mapping System (DMMS), called "VAHILA DUROgeolocator, comprising of a handheld device, coupled with an android application, which can be installed either on a mobile phone or tablet PC to Digitally mark, Map and later to rapidly Locate such aluable buried underground utility assets at any position on earth.
Underground utility lines like (Power, Water, Sewage, Telephone, Gas, Cable TV, General Purpose, and Optical Fibre) are marked with appropriate EMS markers (Electronic Marking Systems) with Disk or Ball-type markers positioned above the buried utility lines at a depth of 3 feet to 5 feet below the ground surface, at periodic intervals and documented, with well laid out drawings indicating positions of markers along the route path with visible external benchmarks, such as petrol pumps, bridges, overhead telephone/power lines etc., for identifying and locating the buried utilities for future service and maintenance.
Generally during service and maintenance activities, the buried assets are identified with personnel who are familiar with the local territory & using the route maps with benchmarks & finally positions are identified with the Standard EMS locator to pinpoint the exact position of the markers and the utility line buried below.
VAHILA DUROgeolocator allows the user to digitally Mark, Map, and locate with Geospatial coordinates to an accuracy within 1 ft., of the buried utility from anywhere in the world. However, depending on prevailing cloud conditions the positioning accuracy may vary up to 3 feet. Thereby minimizing unwanted excavation and quick turnaround time for locating and providing a cost-eective solution.
In addition, during installation of a utility line, VAHILA DUROgeolocator can upload a photograph of each asset as buried for future reference along with information like Geospatial coordinates (Latitude & Longitude), name of user/service provider, utility type, depth of buried utility & any special reference to either a cloud server (real-time online mode, where mobile connection is available) or during a bulk data transfer (oine mode when no Mobile Data is available). VAHILA DUROgeolocator can provide all required information that makes usage of Expensive RFID-type Ball markers redundant, requiring usage of inexpensive Disk type markers sucient if prevailing specifications need to be complied with. However, the VAHILA DUROgeolocator device will allow the user to read the RFID identification value from the RFID tag. Also, its software has the option to read/store RFID data if required or specified.
