Cape star investments (Pty) Ltd is a specialist manufacturer of industrial and mining components, cnc grinding, turning, and milling repetition work. We are a prime manufacturer and supplier of quality rock drills and rock drill components to the south african and african markets. Right from inception in january 2004, cape star investments (Pty) Ltd decided that quality precision work with reliable deliveries was a critical factor and up until the present, this mission has been met time after time. We have and continue to use state-of-the-art equipment to successfully compete in the market place. Our sound business ethics, quality work and solid dedication have seen us grow to the point of owning our own property that includes 9 000 sq/m of space with 6 000 sq/m dedicated to the shop floor.

Our mission statement
we have been extremely “marketing-active” over the last few years, promoting our company and products. We have particularly become more pro-active in the rock drill mining field with great success. Our campaigns have resulted in us supplying close to 72% of the rock drill / roof bolt and spares needs for one of the largest mines in south africa and a growing share in other leading mines.
The signing of contracts with other large mines are in progress and nearing finalization. Cape star investments (Pty) Ltd has also been accepted unconditionally to supply new customers in zambia, drc, zimbabwe and botswana.

Our capacity
we run a 24-hour operation and have done so for the past 12 years. We own and maintain 13 cnc turning centres, maximum of 1525mm between centres, and 650mm diameter. Our complete plant enables us to manage all manufacturing processes in-house including cnc grinding / cnc milling /cnc turning, conventional turning, milling, fabrication, specialized welding etc.
Machinery
• 18 cnc machining centres, maximum table length being 1700mm.
• 2 cnc internal grinders
• 2 cnc cylindrical grinders
• a grinding section with internal and external fully automatic “cycle machines”
• 10 conventional universal grinders
• full “cam” computerized design and programming department
• a turning section with 4 various conventional lathes
• a milling section with 2 conventional milling machines
• in-house gear-cutting department for deep hole drilling, capacity of 1200mm long and a broaching section.
• fabrication department with capabilities of tig, argon, arc and aluminium welding, of 800m² which was increased to 2182m² in april 2012
• large pressbrake and guilotine
we also have a cnc vertical lathe, with a capacity of 850mm turning dia, 900mm turning height, 37/45kw motor (gearbox), 3 (three) new bt 50 machining centres, with a maximum table length of 1700mm, as well as 2 new horizontal machining centres with double swing pallets and 60 tool magazines. Also recently added is a cnc double spindle deep hole drilling machine and a broaching machine with a 1400mm stroke. All the above are supported by an inspection department.
