Single-row cylindrical roller bearings are of separable construction. The ring with flanges is assembled with the cage and the rollers. During mounting, the rings are to be fixed on to their respective seats Inner ring on the shaft and outer ring on to the housing and then they have to be put together carefully. Depending on the ring-roller-cage configuration either on the inner ring or the outer ring, the bearing series are designated as NU and N. Series NJ and NUP are variants of the NU design denoting whether the separable inner ring has one flange (NJ) or one flange and truncated inner ring with a separable guide flange fixed on the other side of the flange so as to keep the width of the inner ring assembly same as that of the outer ring (NUP). They are manufactured in multiple series.
The bearings feature high rigidity, low friction, an ability to transmit high radial loads and are suitable for high rpm. N or NU series bearings should not be exposed to axial loads. Nj series bearings can carry limited axial load in only one direction, whereas NUP series series of bearings can carry limited axial loads in both the directions.
The bearings are supplied with standard clearance and normal accuracy. However, bearings with lower or higher radial clearances as well as higher running accuracy can also be supplied.
The bearings in the N design the inner ring has two pilot flanges, the outer ring is without the pilot flanges. Axial displacement of the shaft towards the element (body) is possible in both directions.
Single-row tapered roller bearings are of separable construction. The inner ring is assembled with a cage and the rollers and has to be used along with the outer ring for operation. The rings are to be mounted separately on to the machine during assembly Inner ring on the shaft and outer ring on to the housing and then they have to be put together carefully. They are manufactured in multiple series. They feature high rigidity, reasonably low friction and the ability to transmit high radial and single-direction axial load.
The intensity of the axial load transmitted depends on the size of the contact angle. Through paired arrangement of two bearings in Back-to-Back or Face-to-Face, bi-directional axial load-carrying capacity can be achieved.
The single-row tapered roller bearings are manufactured both in metric and inch dimensions.
The bearings are manufactured with normal accuracy. However, bearings with higher running accuracy can also be supplied.
Spherical roller thrust bearings are of separable construction, The shaft washer is assembled with the cage and a number of asymmetrical spherical rollers and has to be used along with a housing washer having sphered raceway. During mounting, the rings are to be fixed on to their respective seats shaft washer on the shaft and housing washer on to the housing and then they have to be put together carefully They are manufactured in multiple series.
The raceway of the housing washer is at an angle with its ais of rotation, so as to be able to allow the rollers to remain in touch with it. As a result, a spherical roller thrust bearing is capable of carrying both a radial as well as an axial load. Spherical roller thrust bearings because of their internal geometry are capable of accommodating certain amount of misalignment. However, they can take axial loads only from one direction, and may need to be used in pairs in Back-to-Back or Face-to-Face arrangement, if thrust load from both the directions are to be carried.
Spherical roller thrust bearings are capable of compensating misalignment and shaft deflection.
The bearings are manufactured in normal accuracy. However, bearings with higher running accuracy can also be supplied.
Double row spherical roller bearings are of non-separable construction. They are manufactured in multiple series.
Double-row spherical-roller bearings are manufactured either with cylindrical or tapered bore, the taper ratio of which is normally 1:12. However, for series 240 and 241, the taper is 1:30. The bearings having a cylindrical bore are fitted straight onto a cylindrical shaft, whereas a bearing having tapered bore is to be mounted either on a shaft having same taper as in the bore of the bearing, or on a straight shaft by means of an adapter sleeve or a withdrawal sleeve, inserted between the shaft and the bearing. Double row spherical roller bearings have two rows of spherical rollers with a common spherical track on the outer ring bore. This allows swivelling of the bearing inner ring with respect to the outer ring around the centre of the bearing, without affecting its correct function. Thus, these bearings are capable of compensating misalignment, shaft deflection and even machining error in the machine components to a certain extent.
These bearings can transmit high radial and axial loads in either direction simultaneously.
Double row spherical roller bearings have high load carrying ability. The bearings are supplied with standard radial clearance. However, bearings for special applications can be supplied either with lower or higher radial clearance. The bearings are manufactured in normal accuracy class, However, bearings with higher running accuracy can also be supplied.
ZKL bearing are used extensively in heavy engineering and mining industries and in many other industrial segments as wel as in agricultural equipment. The heavy engineering segment especially utilizes special bearings which are currently paid special attention in our company. These are cross-split roller bearings, the construction and manufacture technology of which are in ZKL tested on special roller bearings up to the 900 mm outer diameter and on spherical roller bearings up to the 1 600 mm outer diameter. The portfolio of these bearings is constantly extended and puts ZKL among the prominent world manufacturers.
The cross-split bearings are suitable for applications mainly in those conditions where axial mounting of the bearing into the seating is unfeasible, which is for instance multiply seated shafts, crankshafts or long transmissions, or in such cases when mounting of the bearings into the seating would be too long, and the resulting shutdown of the device would cause severe operation faults.
Most frequently used cross-split bearings in the world are the single-row roller and double-row spherical roller bearings. Both the above mentioned design groups are included in the ZKLs production programme. The said bearings have a radial-split outer ring, inner ring and also the cage for conducting the roller elements. The cages are usually massive, brass. Both halves of the cage are coupled to be able to resist dynamic forces, which the cage is exposed to during the operation. Both halves of the inner ring are placed on the shaft with the help of belting rings, equipped with a threaded joint, provided with an arresting mechanism. The splitting joint between the halves of the outer ring can be perpendicular to the front of the ring. On the other hand, the plane of separation of the inner ring is designed as inclined at an angle, so that no impacts occur during rolling of the roller elements in the loaded zone on the edge of the plane of separation.
Traditional Plain Bearing users who handle radial loads and suffer the constant tension of major and minor misalignments can now take heart.
The latest hi-tech addition to the wide and growing range of ZKL- Spherical Plain Bearings will handle radial loads and misalignment with smooth and effortless easevirtually maintenance free.
Advantages:-Maintenance- free ZKL spherical plain bearings boast several advantages over the rolling-element designs. For example, they do not require lubrication because of the special sliding- contact surface. The sliding layer is asymmetrical, and resistant to moisture. An adhesive bond resist separation. The bearings support high dynamic and static loads. The bearings have a low friction factor and can take high contact pressure.
Plus there are several variations to the bearing design. Spherical plain bearings are good for supporting radial loads and where bearings must work without maintenance. The design is also recommended where its suitable to lubricate a metallic sliding- contact surface, as in unilateral loads. The design can be combined with axial spherical plain bearings to support axial loads also.
Todays bearings are facing challenges that their predecessors couldnt have imagined. New products, increasingly sophisticated, high-speed precision machinery, new technologies, faster processes, more stress, heavier loads, longer hours of operation It goes on.
