Epoxy phenol novolac (EPN) resins contain more than two epoxy groups per molecule and are therefore described as multifunctional epoxy resins. In other words these are polyepoxides obtained by reacting a phenolic novolac resin with epichlorohydrin. When cured, these provide a high cross-link density due to the increased epoxy functionality. EPN resins are highly recommended in formulations for high-performance applications requiring excellent chemical resistance, solvent resistance and exceptional high temperature resistance than the standard bisphenol A epoxy resins. These EPN resins can also be used in blends to upgrade the performance offered by bisphenol A and F epoxy resins. The Epotec range offers low viscosity and high functionality and are premier products for high corrosion-resistant coatings and linings. These also find use in high temperature-resistant adhesives, corrosion resistant marine coatings, maintenance coatings, industrial coatings, tank linings, pipe coatings, primers in automotive, coil and appliances and manufacturing of epoxy vinyl esters. Customised solvent-cut versions of EPN resins with xylene, MIBK, MEK, etc can also be formulated upon request.
