Stable in size, resistant and entirely ecological wood, Thermowood supplied by us is made useng WTT method which uses thermal treatment of wood at 180°C, No chemicals are used during the thermal treatment. Only a little bit of water is needed to start the process. The rest takes place thanks to a gradual increase of temperature inside of a pressurised chamber (7-9 bars). Gradual heating of the wood releases moisture and creates an environment full of steam that ensures even colouring and treatment of the wood. Thanks to this process the wood is environment friendly and doesn’t endanger surrounding fauna or flora.
Before the actual thermal treatment, the wood is pre-dried to 12-14% of moisture content. An important part of the WTT process is that the wood is never dried out completely. On the contrary, the remaining moisture content stays at 6-8%. This is the final humidity for thermo-wood.
Modern technology controls the entire manufacturing process and thereby guaranteeing a uniform treatment of the wood. Thanks to this treatment the pine changes its original naturally light yellow tone to a light dark colouring.
The wood obtains significantly improved dimensional stability and thereby reducing the woods vulnerability to deformation respectively swelling and shrinking of the wood. Dimensional changes are reduced by up to 60%. The wood shows increased resistance to rot and mould and also improved insulation properties.
Coat and colour If you opt for treating your thermo-wood decking with a coat to prevent it from naturally turning grey (occurs approx. 1 year after installation) we recommend to use OSMO Decking oil n. 010 Thermo-wood oil. OSMO Decking oil is a coat based on natural plant oils and waxes and thanks to these materials is this coat not harmful to health in any way. The pigment contained in this coat doesn’t cause any significant change in the natural tone of the thermo-pine, on the contrary the tone gets even more enhanced and furthermore the wood is protected from the UV rays that are the main cause of the wood turning grey. Do not however put the coat on any sooner than 3 months after installation.
During these 3 months the wood will naturally loose some of the substances :
The most common coniferous forests in the world are larch forests, and the most important taiga is Siberian larch. This is valid especially for the West-Siberian lowlands, this species also climbs to the upper border of the forest. In broader spectrum the Siberian larch also extends into north-east Europe. Just in Russian federation the larch forests cover approx. 264 mils. ha. which is around 38% of their forest lands. Trees in Siberia reach up to 40m and around 400 years of age. The point of origin for Siberian larch is the West-Siberian lowlands, southern part of the mountainous central Siberia, to the west it reaches into Europe until the south-eastern edge of the white see and almost to the edge of lake Onega, to the east it goes through Asia until the Baikal lake and to the southeast until Mongolia. It grows from southern Asian borders of former USSR until the northern border of the tundra. Siberian larch grows from almost sea-level to 2250 above. It grows from widespread lowlands up until the Alpine border of mountain forests. Highest occurring in Altai (up to 3700m above sea level).
Colour : Yellow-white to red-white sapwood, core-wood red-brown to dark red-brown, darkens. During stronger heating from the sun resin can seep through.

Small to midsized tree that originates from north=east Brazil and Guyana, Exceptionally fine, uniformly structed and straight-growing wood has purplish red-brown color with various tones. Colour differences between individual planks are natural and common. The wood can have some insect damage that doesn’t affect the static properties or durability. Wood is very hard and lasts very long thanks to high density and contained substances. These oil substances may be washed out by rain during the first period i tis exposed to weather conditions. Due to this fact the wood used for decking or balconies has to be used in such a way that rainwater coming offo f i tis taken away by guttering. The decking surface has to be treated with oil approx. 2-3 months after installation when the natural reduction in contained substances occurs. Without the treatment the wood remains unharmed and in time the surface will turn silver-grey. You can get great optical value with OSMO Decking oil. For correct functionality of the decking it is necessary to follow basic rules for installation of wooden decking and creating suffciently stable construction underneath. The underlying construction should be made of wood with same or similar density as the actual decking to ensure uniform swelling or shrinkage. For correct maintenance and cleaning ask our sales representatives for technical conditions and guidelines for maintenance of wooden decking.

Teak is a deciduous tropical wood. Most of Teak trees reach an average height of 9-11m with the trunk diameter 1-1.5m. Teak originates from Burma and also grows in India, Thailand, Indonesia and Java.
Teak decking is supplied only from Burmese Teak in classication Select&Better, articially dried to 16-18%. True Burmese teak has narrow, light yellow-brown sapwood and dark gold-brown core wood that darkens to medium or dark brown on the surface in air. Burmese Teak has predominantly straight bres. Teak is easy to work with, for connections it is necessary to pre-drill holes. Teak wood has a very high durability. Without treatment Teak decking will remain unharmed although its colour will gradually change from yellow-brown to silver-grey. Teak wood has a high content of oily substances that prevent optimal adhesion of the coat.
It is therefore necessary to weather the wood after installation for 2-3 months before rst surface treatment. For correct functionality of the decking it is necessary to follow basic rules for installation of wooden decking and creating suciently stable construction underneath.
Coat and colour : If you opt for treating your decking with a coat to prevent it from naturally turning grey we recommend to use OSMO Decking oil n. 007 Decking oil, transparent or n. 430 anti-slip decking oil. Bear in mind that both of these coats are colourless and therefore protect only partially from the UV rays only in combination with pigmented rst oil coat from the OSMO Decking oils line followed by an anti-slip decking oil or Teak oil can the decking be protected. As a standalone transparent coat the OSMO Anti-slip decking oil and Teak oil are both unsuitable for uncovered decking that is heavily burdened with sun. if the wood has already turned grey, treat the surface with OSMO Gelem against wood greyness n. 6609 and re-do the whole treatment again.
Garapa wood, also called Brazilian Ash is deciduous wood with high durability. Garapa comes mainly from South America, from Brazil. Garapa wood is a light yellow-brown wood that darkens to medium brown on the surface in air. Garapa has predominantly straight bres. After drying Garapa’s density is 800-1000 kg/m3, on average 900 kg/m3. It dries slowly and has good stability. Colour dierences between individual planks are natural but are not too signicant. The wood is very hard and lasts very long thanks to high density and concentration of contained substances. These can slow down the drying process and prevent sucient adhesion of the coat. That is why it is recommended to allow it to weather for 2-3 months before the rst nish. You can get great optical value with OSMO Decking oil. For correct functionality of the decking it is necessary to follow basic rules for installation of wooden decking and creating suciently stable construction underneath. Coat and colour : If you opt for treating your decking with a coat to prevent it from naturally turning grey we recommend to use OSMO Decking oil n. 006 Bangkirai oil, naturally coloured. Which is a great match for Bukit wood. The pigment contained in the coat is adapted to the natural of Bangkirai wood. It is almost the same colour as Bukit wood. The wood is protected from the UV rays that are the main cause of the wood turning grey. Do not apply the coat any sooner than 2 months after installation as stated earlier.
Dimensions :
Bangkirai represents very resistant, hard and long lasting wood, immune to fungi and mould, and they do not penetrate inside due to high density of bangkirai balau species. It is a tropical core wood of grey-brown to reddish-brown colour. The variable rotary growth is characteristic for bangkirai balau wood. The surface may show small apertures caused by insect living only in live wood, small pitch pockets and minor cracks. However, these occurrences do not have any effects on the wood characteristics. Growth rings are not noticeable, dry bangkirai wood is odour-free. During the first months, tannin contained in bangkirai balau wood can be washed out e.g. during rain, and cause stains to the plaster, stone, and constructions. If we leave bangkirai balau wood without maintenance, it will gain beautiful grey-silver colour in time. This can be prevented by means of a suitable paint finish such as bangkirai oil of Osmo Color series. Pay attention to contact with metals, always use stainless screws for fitting, otherwise distinctive stains difficult to remove may occur on wood.
Bangkirai Yellow Balau (Shorea laevis) are trees that come from the following Asian countries: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Philippines and Indonesia.
Decking from the Bangkirai wood is supplied air-dried with moisture no more than 25%. The core has in its fresh form yellow-brown to greenish look, often it darkens to olive-brown. Colour dierences between individual planks are natural and common. As one of the most resistant woods the core wood, that doesn’t always get rid of lighter sapwood, shows high resistance to rot and mould. The growth rings are not noticeable, dried wood is without stench. The wood can have some insect damage that doesn’t aect the static properties or durability. Massaranduba is exceptionally fine, evenly structured and straight growing wood with purple, red-brown colour with various shades. The colour differences in massaranduba between individual boards are natural and common. Massaranduba wood may include holes from insect which do not affect the durability and static feature. Massaranduba wood is very hard and has long durability due to high density and contained substances. These oily contained substances can be washed out with rain during the first phase of exposure to weather conditions. Due to the above reason, massaranduba wood must be placed on decking or balconies in such way water flowing from wood is drained by means of eaves and rain gutters. Decking surface made from massaranduba should be treated with oil approximately 2 months after it is placed, and natural reduction of oil substances from the wood surface occurs. Without the treatment massaranduba wood remains undamaged, and grey-silver pattern occurs on the wood surface in time. Decking oil OSMO Color for Massaranduba helps the wood visual value for a long time. A correct function of the decking requires the compliance with basic rules for laying wooden decking and the creation of sufficiently stable base construction. The base construction requires the use of wood with the same or similar density as the surface wood in order to enable equal expansion and shrinking.

Decking made from Massaranduba wood important notice
Wood is a hygroscopic material and therefore changes its shape in relation to the air humidity. This process of moisture alteration in correlation to air humidity and temperature is reversible but not linear. For the same relative humidity and temperature of air is the wood moisture higher during adsorption than during absorption, atrelativehumidityofairRH30-90% by2.5-3.5%. that means that the wood will shrink during evaporation but doesn’t return to its original shape after absorbing the water back. This fact has Major influence on the behaviour of decking made from massaranduba in an air-dried state.
Technical list for Massaranduba material states tangential drying 9-12%, radial 6-6.8%. During the course of the year there are changes in humidity of the air, long term rain, snow, thawing and the planks will increase its volume during such period although approx. 2.5-3.5% of its current width. Furthermore, it is important to realize that the plank are cut in different orientations towards the axis of the trunk, tangential, radial, but also semi-radial, which affects the drying in dimensional percentages thereby creating different sizes of clefts even though it was installed with identical dilatation. We recommend dilatation of 6-8mm.
n 21x145 mmThis profile is supplied in artifically dried form, meaning the moisture in the wood ranges from 16% to 18%.Thanks to artifical drying the wood is more dimensionally stable. We recommnend a dilatation of 5-7 mm between individual planks. Material experiences only small dimensional changes after installation.
Conclusion : Any material from wooden massive installed in the outer areas will not remain calm will constantly work according to effects of surrounding environment.
Coat and colour : If you opt for treating your decking with a coat to prevent it from naturally turning grey we recommend to use OSMO Decking oil n. 014 Massaranduba oil, naturally coloured. The pigment contained in the coat is adapted to the natural of Massaranduba wood. The wood is protected from the UV rays that are the main cause of the wood turning grey. Siberian larch for decking is recognized for its beauty of many fine and well ingrown knags. Growth rings are much denser in Siberian larch then in pine, therefore the larch texture may have livelier effects. Larch wood has tendency to turn grey without surface treatment, and due to its natural feature it is popular in raw application without paint finish. People who prefer the wood clean colour and maintained wood colour can prevent the grey shade partially by applying a suitable treatment from series Osmo Color oils, however we recommend leaving this decking wood in natural state due to the resin content. Siberian larch due to high level of resin is recognized for high density, mechanical and biological resistance lading to the conclusion that it is highly resistant to damage from rot and insect, however the wood has a tendency to form longitudinal cracks despite all the positive points. Pay attention to contact with metals, always use stainless screws for fitting, otherwise distinctive stains difficult to remove may occur on wood.
Utilizing state-of-the-art packaging tools and superior grade supplies, we pack our products and help them remain protected from external damages. Description : We deliver teak decking solely from Myanmar in classification A-Grade (1 fce clear), kiln dried to moisture content 16 18%. Real Burmese teak has narrow, light yellow-brown sapwood and dark gold-brown wood which darkens outside on the surface to medium or dark brown. Burmese teak has mostly direct fibration. Teak is suitable for shaping. It is necessary to pre-drill holes for connection. Teak wood is very durable. Without treatment, teak wood decking remains undamaged; however its colour gradually changes from yellow-brown to silver-grey in time. In order to maintain the original colour, it is necessary to treat the wood and we recommend the most suitable paint composition - 2 coats with one of special wood oils OSMO COLOR with pigment base (not 007 colour-free teak oil) or 1 coat with one of special wood oils OSMO COLOR with pigment base (not 007 colour-free teak oil) and 1 coat with special wood oil with antislip effects (oil contains dense organic additive with evenly spread antislip particles in the paint. The particles connect upon application and remain on the surface after drying. In case of sheltered decking it is possible to use 2 thin coats of special wood oil 007 colour-free teak oil or 2 thin coats of special wood oil with antislip effect no. 430. A correct function of the decking requires the compliance with basic rules for laying wooden decking and the creation of sufficiently stable construction.

Java Teak has a narrow, light yellow-brown sapwood and dark golden-brown core wood that darkens to medium or dark brown on the surface in air. Java Teak as opposed to Burmese has a livelier structure and a wider range of colours. It is easy to work with. It is necessary to pre-drill holes for connections. The surface of Teak is easy to nish and as the most appropriate coat we recommend OSMO special decking oils.
Taking care of Teak wood : Same rules apply as for Burmese Teak – see page 41
Installation : Our decking planks from Java Teak are supplied with tongue-groove connection. These planks allow for sucient water drainage and thanks to the bevelling on the edges each piece is highlighted. Furthermore, thanks to this connection there is no need to crosscut the planks. If you want to keep the decking without the visible screws use either T-stick or a connecting clamp with a decking screw.
T-stick is used for installation of decking planks from calm woods with thickness no more than 20mm with small dimensional changes, that have grooves for this clamp on their sides or such grooves have to be cut during installation. T-stick is made of a plastic cross reinforced with glass bres that is resistant to weather conditions and a plate and screw from stainless steel. Distance of 9mm from the underlay allows for good circulation and prevents the formation of permanent moisture. Durability and functionality of your decking is increased.

Ipe description and surface treatment :
The wood can be found throughout South and Central Americas and also in the Caribbean area. Usually known as Ipe but also known as lapacho or ironwood. Trees can reach up to 45m in height.
Ipe wood is light to dark chocolate-brown, sometimes turning olive-brown. Colour dierences between individual planks are natural and common. Ipe wood is generally regarded as strong and very hard. Fibres are straight but also deposited in a spiral pattern which can cause harder processing of the wood especially due to uneven texture that changes from ne to medium. Ipe is a very heavy kind of wood, density of the dried wood is up to 1200 kg/m3. It is in all aspects a very durable wood and after drying becomes very stable. Thanks to high density, hardness and content of substances it lasts very long These substances may slow down the drying process and prevent optimal adhesion of the coat. That is why it is crucial to allow Ipe wood to weather for 10-12 months before the rst oil coat so that some of the substances may escape naturally and the wood becomes ready to accept the oil coat. Ipe wood is one of the densest in the world and that is why the time it takes for the contained substances to be washed out after installation is almost a whole year.
For correct functionality of the decking it is necessary to follow basic rules for installation of wooden decking and creating suciently stable construction underneath. The underlying construction should be made of wood with same or similar density as the actual decking to ensure uniform swelling or shrinkage. For correct maintenance and cleaning ask our sales representatives for technical conditions and guidelines for maintenance of wooden decking.
Coat and colour : If you opt for treating your decking with a coat to prevent it from naturally turning grey we recommend to use OSMO Decking oil n. 010 Thermowood oil, naturally coloured, which suits Ipe wood perfectly. The wood is protected from the UV rays that are the main cause of the wood turning grey. Do not apply the coat any sooner than approx. 10-12 months after installation for reasons stated earlier.

We deliver decking from Merbau wood air-dried with moisture content approximately 20%. The core wood is brown-grey to dark red-brown with various shades. The colour differences between individual boards are natural and common. The core wood which does not always lose its lighter white shades, shows high resistance to mould and insect. Growth rings are not noticeable, dry wood is odour-free. Wood exposed to external environment can show minor cracks and splits at the board ends due to the variation of relative air moisture. The wood contains high level of resin indicated in the occurrence of gold-yellow veining. The wood is very hard and has long durability due to high density and contained substances. These oily contained substances can be washed out with rain during the first phase of exposure to weather conditions. Due to the above reason, the wood must be placed on decking or balconies in such way water flowing from wood is drained by means of eaves and rain gutters. Decking surface should be treated with oil approximately 2 months after it is placed, and natural reduction of oil substances from the wood surface occurs. Without the treatment the wood remains undamaged, and grey-silver pattern occurs on the wood surface. Decking oil OSMO COLOR colour-free or bangkirai oil helps the wood visual value for a long time. A correct function of the decking requires the compliance with basic rules for laying wooden decking and the creation of sufficiently stable construction. The base construction requires the use of wood with the same or similar density as the surface wood in order to enable equal expansion and shrinking. For correct maintenance and cleaning refer to the maintenance instructions for decking boards.
This wood can be found in south-east Asia, predominantly in Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia in coastal areas and higher altitudes up to 400 metres above sea level.
Merbau decking is supplied air-dried with approx. 20% moisture. Core wood is brown-grey to brown-red with dierent shades. Colour dierences between individual planks are natural and common. The core that doesn’t always get rid of lighter sapwood has high resistance to mould and insect. The growth rings are not noticeable, dried wood is without stench. Wood that is exposed to weather conditions may have tiny cracks on the end of the planks, caused by changes in relative air-humidity. This wood contains a higher amount of resin which can be seen as golden-yellow vein-like streaks in the wood. It is very hard and lasts very long thanks to high density and contained substances. These oil substances may be washed out by rain during the rst period it is exposed to weather conditions. Due to this fact the wood used for decking or balconies has to be used in such a way that rainwater coming o of it is taken away by guttering. The decking surface should be treated with oil approx. 3 months after installation when the natural reduction in contained substances occurs. Without the treatment the wood remains unharmed and in time the surface will turn silver-grey. You can get great optical value with OSMO Decking oil.
