Tony is responsible for designing all of nk's windows-based interface applications, including speedcoach communicator. Knowing the high quality of tony's work, we were intrigued when he showed us applications he had in development for the iphone and the ipod touch which use the built-in clock, accelerometer and gps (iphone 3g only) to provide performance data for rowing. In the interest of supporting technological innovation in the sport of rowing, nk has agreed to license the speedcoach and strokecoach names to performance phones, and to provide a few critical pieces of hardware most importantly a waterproof case! the iphone and ipod touch are not water-resistant and may suffer damage if dropped. After evaluating the options, we are offering a case that adds buoyancy and padding, and comes with a sturdy neoprene strap that can be used to secure the case to your footstretcher or rigger. This case is, of course, not rowing specific and is also a great accessory for any coach or outdoorsperson. performance phones has also developed a unique online workout storage and review space on facebook. Nk plans to work with performance phones to bring this feature to the communicator application for the nk speedcoach in the near future. Facebook users can easily use this application to keep their own workout log, and securely share their results with their coach andor team-mates via the tagging features built into facebook.
