Positioning in the Plant :
The chilling Tank along with chilling unit is installed after the cascade cooler.
Primary Function : It is one of the important stages of the process where moisture & CO2 is separated partly from the air before entering the Molecular Sieve Battery. The air from the cascade cooler passes through the chilling tank, which contains chilled water at a temperature of 60C to 100C. This water is chilled by a Chilling unit. In the chilling tank the moisture entrapped in the air further gets condensed and is separated out as moisture. This moisture is collected in the Moisture Separator and is drained out.

Positioning in the Plant :
The expanded air generated from the Expansion Engine & R1 Expansion valve enters Air Separation Unit. The rich liquid containing Oxygen & Nitrogen is separated out in various stages The rich Liquid collects in the lower column of Air Separation Unit after coming from R1 Expansion Valve & Expansion Engine. The final separation of air takes place in the upper columns using expansion valves RL & PL with pressure droping from 4.5 kg/cm2 to 0.5kg/cm2 and the temperature to -1750C. The Nitrogen being more volatile separates out first & the Oxygen separated is stored in the condenser from where it is pumped by the Liquid Oxygen Pump into cylinders.long the lower & upper column.

Complete heavy-duty type low to low pressure CO2 transfer pump with a transfer capacity up to 9000 kg/hr at 1450 rpm (50Hz) or 10800 kg/hr at 1740 rpm (60Hz) and differential pressure of 0 barg with a 4.0 kW motor. The pump is designed for 2 inch NPT inlet and outlet ports in sides of pump. Rotation is reversible.

CASCADE COOLER :-
Positioning in the Plant :
The pressurized & compressed hot gas that passes out of the compressor, is fed in the Cascade Cooler. The Cascade cooler is made of two elliptical compartments with pipe coil in each compartment interconnected with each other. The pipe coils are partly submerged in water in the vessel.
Primary Function :
The Primary function of the Cascade Cooler is to bring down the temperature of the compressed gas, for removing moisture. The dry Nitrogen coming from the Air Separation Unit bubbles through the water & gets moisturized. The latent heat thus produced results in reducing the temperature of water. This in turn helps the pipe caring hot air to cool to about 200C.
Positioning in the Plant :
Oxygen filling manifold is the final stage where cylinder rack is set for final filling. The pressurized oxygen is controlled by pressure gauges & manifold valves.
Primary Function :
High Pressure Oxygen Pumped by L.O.Pump passes through Heat Exchangers converts into gaseous form. The gaseous oxygen if filled through oxygen filing manifold in the cylinders ready for marketing.

Spares Requirement :
Air Compressor is positioned as the first primary equipment in the Oxygen Plant. The production cycle starts from the air compressor by sucking the atmospheric air.
A multi-stage (minimum 4 stages) air compressor sucks atmospheric air through a suction filter compressed to a working pressure which is nearly 2-3 Kg/cm2 during start up of Plant and to a pressure of 40-50 Kg/cm2 approximate during normal running of the air separation unit. Air compressor has inter-coolers between the stages and after-cooler at the final stage.
