M/s Eastern Refractories Limited (ERL), a company by shares was incorporated in january 1992. The company was promoted by m/s eastern minerals involved in the business of mining & manufacturing minerals pyrophyllite & diaspore an important ingredient for refractories manufacturing. M/s eastern minerals (em) was the first to identify minerals pyrophyllite & diaspore in the bundelkhand region of u.p. & m.p. M/s em took a mining lease in 1962 and subsequently started its activities in pioneering the use of pyrophyllite in the ceramic industries & diaspore in the refractory industries. Way onwards m/s em acquire 15 mines for minerals diaspore & pyrophyllite. A part of its forward integration m/s em had set up refractory manufacturing facilities in the name & style of m/s erl, for the purpose of manufacturing high alumina refractories ranging from 30% alumina to 90% alumina utilizing mainly the minerals from the mines of m/s em. Pyrophyllite is a low alumina raw material having very low iron, good thermal shock resistance & appreciable reversible thermal expansion & good mor properties making it most desirable to be utilized for applications requiring these specifications. Diaspore another important raw material having 60% alumina & 2% iron with mullite & coroundum phase is most desirable for blast furance, aluminium furnace, copper furance & glass melting tanks applications. M/s erl, is utilizing the above raw material and also raw materials like bauxite, sillimanite etc. For manufacturing high quality high alumina refractories. erl is having its own sources of raw materials, which gives it enhanced strength in smooth raw material availability & low cost production with improved quality. company activities and products range. The company is primarily engaged in the manufacturing of shaped and unshaped quality refractories. The company has active in-house r&d and experienced, highly qualified & motivated team of technical personnel. We undertake total refractory management also our design department has the capability to design refractories for various application. There are qualified and expert engineers, which take care of application of the refractories under total refractory management concept. (a) high alumina refractories division: the product range from 99% dense alumina bricks to normal fireclay refractories. Quality control system the manufacturing process adheres to strict quality control measures and international production standards. Our quality control system works on the international quality control norms. At every stage of production we have checks and documentation of all our process that are fed into centralised data base and they form a basis of evaluation and suitable actions, the main stages in our manufacturing process are broadly based on the following categories. Care in selection and approval of raw materials. Standardised manufacturing process the standard process of milling, mixing, moulding & firing. Quality checks at each point of the process. Complete analysis and checking of finished products prior to despatch. Packing as per international standards. In 2009 m/s erl has become joint venture partner of trl krosaki refractories ltd., (formerly tata refractories ltd.). Trl krosaki refractories limited (trlk) is world’s fifth largest refractories producer. Trlk is now having full control of erl plant over production, management, marketing and after sales service.
