Carbon Vanes

DESCRIPTION OF CARBON VANES


Carbon vanes have proved successfully as sealing elements in rotating compressors such as vacuum pumps and condensers of liquids and gases.


Advantages of our MEGA-vanes grades are very good self-lubrication, and the inferior specific density of artificial carbon, contrary to metal grade vanes. They are suitable for fast running pumps by low wear.


Based on experience, the leaving edges of the rotor slots must be chamfered or rounded, also the entering edges of the vanes, as to lower unwanted pressure, and thus guaranteeing an easier run-in.


APPLICATIONS AND CUSTOMERS OF CARBON VANES


Compressors, pumps for air (gases) and liquids, application for sliding speeds up to 12 m/sec and up to pressure differences of 3 to 5 bar


Grades: hard carbon and electro graphite carbon for the Food industry, resin bonded grades for the NON-FOOD industry


CHARACTERISTICS AND SERVICE


The life time of carbon vanes depends above all on a precise machining of the opposite sliding areas. For the slot machining we recommend a roughness depth of approx. 1 and a slot tolerance of H8, the surface finish of the cylinder walls should have a roughness depth of < 0, 5 . Depending on customers requirements, shapes and grades can be realized and modified.

The standard stock shapes are manufactured by two methods.


CASTING & EXTRUSION


Casting grades:- These grades are denoted by the suffix G and these grades exhibit high mechanical strength, stiffness, heat, impact strength, creep resistance and wear resistance
The commonly used casting grades are:-


PA6GStandard cast Polyamides for components, and equipment that are subject to above conditions.


Colors:natural, black.


PA6is also available in an oil filled grade called Oilamid which offers superior self-lubricating properties and MoS2 filled grade which has a higher degree of crystallinity.


Applications:Gears, wear pads, bushings, bearings, conveyor plates, pump impellors etc.


PA12GThis is a special purpose grade used when higher impact and shock resistance, less water absorption and improved creep resistance is required.


EXTRUSION GRADES


Extrusion grades are denoted by the suffix E, these are produced in smaller thicknesses and diameters and offer superior damping properties to casting grades.


The commonly available grades are:


PA6EThis is a standard multipurpose grade and offer a good combination of mechanical stability, impact resistance and damping but much lower wear resistance to casting grades.


Applications:hammer heads, gear wheel etc.


PA66EThis is harder than PA6 and is more resistant to wear but has lesser impact resistance.


PA12EHas very low water absorption proportion hence has very good impact behavior and is tough, but is much more costlier than PA6.


Colors:natural and black.

Hammer Union Seals

Hammer unions also referred to as wing unions are designed to be quick connect / disconnect couplings that are typically used in temporary flow lines or in equipment that will be periodically disassembled. the hammer union seal is relatively large elastomeric annular seal that is rectangular in cross section.

Rubber Molding

RUBBER MOLDING CAPABILITIES


COMPRESSION MOLDING


The most popular molding process, compression molding uses pressure and heat to mold the rubber into the shape required. Compression molding is a good manufacturing choice for large parts, parts that do not require tight tolerances, and low production quantities. It requires inexpensive tooling, but is a labor-intensive process with longer loading and process times than other molding methods.


Compression molding press capabilities for our compression line range from 12 x 12 on the low end, up to and including 85 x 108 on the high end, with various press sizes in between.


TRANSFER MOLDING


Rubber transfer molding uses a process similar to compression molding, but has a transfer system on the top of the mold that feeds the rubber into multiple mold cavities when the press is closed. This allows for more efficient processing tool and material loading times are reduced. It is used for large parts, parts that do not require tight tolerances, and higher production runs than compression molding.


Minor Rubbers transfer molding press capabilities for our compression line range from 12 x 12 on the low end, up to and including 85 x 108 on the high end, with various press sizes in between.


INJECTION MOLDING


With injection molding, rubber is pre-heated before being injected into the mold. Since it is pre-heated, the rubber flows more readily into the mold, allowing for higher cure temperatures, shortening the curing cycle. Injection molding presses provide tight clamping, which results in little or no flash. Parts manufactured using injection molding may not require additional finishing. The process is used for high production runs and parts that require tighter tolerances.


Our injection press capabilities range from 24 x 24 up to 48 x 72, with tonnage (clamping force) of 100 to 500 tons.

Flange Insulation Gasket Kit

An effective form of controlling losses due to corrosion. They can be used to control stray electric currents in piping at oil, gas, water, refinery and chemical plants and increase the effectiveness of cathodic protection systems and confine or eliminate electrolytic corrosion. Most common components being a Gasket, Sleeves for bolt protection, and washers for nut protection. The variety of component materials is dependent upon application.


Type E gaskets have the same outside diameter as the flange offering full protection. This will prevent the collection of foreign matter between the flange faces and ensures complete cathodic isolation. A wide variety of materials are available to suit the requirements. Type F gaskets are made to fit inside the bolt circle and cover the raised face portion. It is recommended that a dirt guard be used to prevent foreign matter from shorting out the flanges. The flanges can also be wrapped. A wide variety of materials are available to suit the requirements. Type D or RTJ gaskets are made to fit the ring groove on ring type joint flanges. Usually manufactured from phenolic based materials. Gaskets Type E and F can be manufactured from: Phenolic (plain and neoprene faced) GRE (Glass Reinforced Epoxy) Asbestos sheet gasket Non Asbestos Material Special Elastomers .
