To use an insulin pen, start by inserting a new disposable needle, dialing up the correct dose, and injecting the insulin into the fatty tissue of your abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. Make sure to follow the instructions provided by your healthcare provider.
It is not recommended to reuse insulin pen needles as they can become dull and increase the risk of infection or injection site reactions. It's best to always use a new needle for each injection.
Insulin pens should be stored at room temperature (not in the refrigerator) and away from direct heat and light. Once in use, the pen should be kept at room temperature for up to 28 days or as indicated by the manufacturer.
