• Safeda/ Banganapalli: Safeda or Banganapalli is one of the oldest types of mangoes discovered in India. It has a bright yellow skin and tastes sour. The best season for this mango is April-June.
• Pairi: Pairi is a sweet tasting mango with a slight hint of sourness. They have a reddish skin that makes them easy to detect. The best season for this mango is May-June.

• Alphonso/ Hapus: Hapus or Alphonso is the most famous as well as the most expensive mango that is available in the market. The small spherical yellow mangoes are a true delight. The best season for this mango is May-June.

• Totapuri: The shape of this mango, with a pointing tip like a parrot, gives the mango this unique name. This mango is apt for use in salads and pickles. The best season for this mango is June-July.
• Kesar: As the name goes, the color of the mango is Kesar or saffron (greener than most mangoes) and it can be distinguished with its strong fragrance. The primary use of Kesar mangoes is to prepare the refreshing aamras. The best season for this mango is July-August.
• Chausa: Chausa mangoes have a bright yellow skin and are loved for the extra pulp they have. The best season for this mango is July-August.
• Langra: Getting its name from the lame owner of the mother tree of this mango, Langra is the most fibrous mangoes of all. The best season for this mango is Mid July-August.

India is crowned with the title of the largest mango producing country in the world. The annual mango production in India is estimated to be around 16,337,400 tons a year. The share of India’s produce is 42.2% of the total mango production in India.

Uttar Pradesh tops the list of the largest mango producing states in India. The state produces almost 23% of the total mangoes of India. Uttar Pradesh produced more than 43 lakh tons of mangoes in the year 2013-14. Ranking second in the list is Andhra Pradesh with 15% production followed by Karnataka producing 9.55 of the total India’s mango produce.

The people of the United States love mangoes and this is the reason why the US tops the list of largest mango importers in the world. The US imports 21.90% of the total world’s mango import and spends as much a $544.00 million on the same.

Mexico is ranked first in the list of largest exporters of mango in the world. Mexico exports approximately 15.6% of the total mango export in the world. The country exports US $332.2 million worth of mangoes to the world annually.
