Ptfe O Rings

  • High Temperatures 250 degrees Celsius
PTFE is a very popular material for O Rings. It is applicable in environments which require chemical resistance and non-compressible material. PTFE O rings are resistant to a number of chemicals including steam, acids, bases, oils, etc. PTFE O-Rings is also known as Teflon O Rings. It has outstanding tear resistance and abrasive resistance resulting in slippery surface properties that make it advantageous for use in seals in moving systems such as valves. Usually it is not recommended for high vacuum seals and low compression vacuum sealing flanges. PTFE O-Rings do not have the compliance of rubber O-rings. To ease assembly, the cross sectional squeeze should be reduced relative to that specified for rubber. Inseal International is a leading manufacturer, supplier and exporter of premium quality PTFE and Teflon O-Rings from India.

Neoprene O Rings

InSeal stocks a number of standard size neoprene O Rings. Special sizes can be made as per order specifications.

Neoprene O Rings or rubber seal products are commonly used in electrical installations and weather sealing applications. They are particularly suitable for use with water, whether salt or fresh water although from drinking (potable) water it is better to use EPDM.

Epdm O Rings

InSeal stocks a range of standard size EPDM O rings. Specials can also be supplied to order.

These o rings are used in sealing and electrical insulation applications.

EPDM is used frequently to seal in brake systems, and for sealing hot water and steam. Ethylene propylene compounds have good resistance to mild acids, detergents, alkalis, silicone oils and greases, ketones, and alcohols.

They are not recommended for applications with petroleum oils, mineral oil, di-ester lubricants, or fuel exposure. Ethylene Propylene has gained wide rubber seal products industry acceptance for its excellent ozone and chemical resistance properties and is compatible with many polar fluids that adversely affect other elastomers. The ethylene-propylene o-ring is commonly referred to as an EPDM o-ring, or EP, EPT, EPR o-rings.

Nitrile O Rings

InSeal stocks a range of standard size nitrile o rings. Specials can also be supplied to order

Nitrile rubber is also known as Buna-N, Perbunan, or NBR rubber.

Nitrile o rings are used in the prescence of fats, oils, fuels, and other liquids contaminated by these; they can also be used at a range of temperatures (-40c to +120c depending on grade).

Silicone O Rings

InSeal stocks a range of standard size silicone o rings. Specials can also be supplied to order.

These O rings are known for their chemical inertia and as such are useful in extreme environments, and temperatures from -55C to +300C. They are an excellent material for static service at extreme (hot or cold) temperatures. Outstanding flex and fatigue life. Very good for ozone and UV radiation service as well as for resistance to fungal and biological attack.

Due to their chemical stability they are useful in the pharmaceutical and food processing industries.

Viton O Rings

InSeal stocks a range of standard size viton O rings. Specials can also be supplied to order.

The O rings are used in the presence of aggressive chemicals, fuels, and explosive gases. They offer excellent resistance to petroleum products and solvents. Very good high-temperature performance. Fluorocarbon elastomers make up the most widely used oil seals in the semi conductor industry.

The working temperature range for Viton is considered to be -15 to +400 degrees F (-29 to +204 degrees C), but it will take temperatures up to 600 degrees F (316 degrees C) for short periods of time. Du Ponts Kalrez is normally recommended up to 500 degrees F (260 degrees C). On the low end, Viton compounds have been known to seal at -65 degrees F (-54 degrees C) in some special static applications, however the normal low temperature limit is -15 degrees F (-26 degrees C). Fluorocarbon 0-rings should be considered for seal use in aircraft, automobile, scientific instruments and other mechanical devices requiring maximum resistance to elevated temperature and to many functional fluids.
