Viton is a performance elastomer with excellent resistance to aggressive chemicals and provides thermal stability. Viton rubber can be moulded into sales, gaskets, O-Rings, moulded sheets, and other profiles. Viton rubber has excellent resistance to petroleum, low compression set, and high temperatures; however, it has limited resistance to low temperatures. Viton has a temperature range from -20 deg C to 205 deg Celcius. Viton 0-rings and Viton cords are the most common moulded component of viton rubber. It works on an all sealing applications.

EPDM seals are used in solar heaters to effectively prevent air, moisture, water and dust from entering into the heaters. EPDM rubber is an excellent material to protect solar heaters from damage.

Rubber Seal Products are one of the more effective seals invented: A loop of elastomer with an O-shape cross section.O-rings are commonly made from viton, silicone, nitrile, and neoprene; and are available in metric and standard sizes. O-rings are specified by the inside diameter and the cross section diameter (thickness). They are most commonly used machines seals, and are also used for pump shafts and hydraulic cylinders.

InSeal stocks a range of standard size viton O rings. Specials can also be supplied to order. The O rings are used in the presence of aggressive chemicals, fuels, and explosive gases. They offer excellent resistance to petroleum products and solvents. Very good high-temperature performance. Fluorocarbon elastomers make up the most widely used oil seals in the semi conductor industry. The working temperature range for Viton is considered to be -15 to +400 degrees F (-29 to +204 degrees C), but it will take temperatures up to 600 degrees F (316 degrees C) for short periods of time. Du Ponts Kalrez is normally recommended up to 500 degrees F (260 degrees C). On the low end, Viton compounds have been known to seal at -65 degrees F (-54 degrees C) in some special static applications, however the normal low temperature limit is -15 degrees F (-26 degrees C). Fluorocarbon 0-rings should be considered for seal use in aircraft, automobile, scientific instruments and other mechanical devices requiring maximum resistance to elevated temperature and to many functional fluids.
