Safety Break away couplings are designed to eliminate spillage and damage associated with drive / pull away incidents. These couplings remove the human error element in the area of product transfer. Break Away couplings have a double valve arrangement that ensures closure of both halves before the main seal release to atmosphere. If the hose or the arm faces excess pull stress the pins on the couplings will break which will activate both valves to automatically close and only then permits disconnection.

DRY BREAK COUPLING

A Dry Break or Dry Disconnect Coupling is an internationally preferred hose connection device which provides an automatic mechanism to seal off both the hose and the fixed pipe end when the hose is disconnected. Dry Disconnect coupling is a safer, environmentally responsible and technologically advanced replacement for Quick Release and Camlock Coupling.

How does a Dry Break Coupling work?

  • This coupling simply works by turning the hose unit 15-degree clockwise locking the units together.
  • The valves are still closed and are not opened until a further rotation has been performed and then the product flow is guaranteed.
  • The rotary action forces the internals of the hose unit forward, opening the tank unit. Once coupled, transfer of product is possible.
  • On disconnection both the hose and tank units close automatically and spill free disconnection is achieved

API Couplings

API hose couplers and tank adaptors are interchangeable with other products manufactured to standard API RP 1004.
API coupler is a high pressure design with five claw closure connection for strength and two interlocks for security and safety.
A moulded lip seal configuration is used for long leak-free performance. API tank adaptors are available with or without operating handles or sightglasses Features:

  • Connect and disconnect under pressure and without spillage.
  • Built in accordance with API RP 1004.
  • Mounting lugs provided for air interlock valve system.
  • Optional sight glass on the adapter (tank unit).
  • Flat surface area on the bottom portion of the valve, which prevents product from being trapped.
  • The operating lever, body and sleeve are all of heavy-duty aluminium.
  • API Coupler is full interlocked. It cannot be opened unless it is properly connected, and cannot be disconnected when the poppet is open.
