Sulphur is required for metabolic functions in plants, also helps in chlorophyll synthesis and improves efficiency of other micronutrients. Sulphur is also a key element in oilseed production.

Sulphur bentonite contains 90 % S and 10 % Bentonite clay which serves as binder and as a dispersing agent after addition to soils. An ideal product should neither disperse very quickly to leach deep into soil or take very long time to disperse. Continuous application of the product in adequate quantities would check soil alkalinity (pH) and maintain the soil pH  between the range 6-7 which is most suitable pH for plant growth.
