Ferro Alloys, as the name indicate are the alloys of chromium, manganese, silicon etc. in alloys form with iron (fe). Ferro alloys are used in steel making as an additive to add strength and quality required in a particular grade of steel for instance the alloys Ferro chrome is used in the manufacturing of stainless steel. Bulk ferro alloys like ferro manganese, silico manganese & ferro silicon are used for manufacturing all grades of steel and are in great demand. Growth of Ferro alloys industries is directly linked to growth of steel industries. Ferro manganese :- Ferroalloy with high content of manganese, is made by heating a mixture of the oxides MnO2 and Fe2O3, with carbon in a furnace. They undergo a thermal decomposition reaction. It is used as a deoxidizer for steel. Ferro Manganese, an alloy of Fe and Mn (70-80%) is obtained by smelting a mixture of iron and manganese ore with carbon in blast furnace, Ferro manganese are generally of three types high carbon, medium carbon, low carbon ferro manganese. Ferro Manganese is a vital constituent for the production of steel.
