Double Cone Blender

The Double Cone Blender is efficient and versatile equipment for homogeneous mixing of dry powder and granules. This blender achieves absolute homogeneity in the blending of a wide variety of free-flowing, dry materials. This is accomplished even with dry materials, which are dissimilar in particle size and shape, because the double cone design interfolds the material regardless of its flow properties.

  • The slant double cone design eliminates dead spots which occasionally occur in conventional double cone mixer.
  • The particle size reduction is minimized due to the absence of any moving blades.
  • Shape of blender body results in a near complete discharge of product material, clearly an added advantage over horizontal blender.
  • Blender rotates, the material at the sides nearest the axis starts to cascade first, striking the sloping sides of the cone where it is deflected toward the centre. The progressive cascading action moves material from the smallest axial radius and toward the centre. The speed of the unit determines the point of rotation at which the material starts to cascade.
  • A second action takes place simultaneously with the cascading action. Material falling into the middle of the blender spreads apart as it falls, mixing with the material flowing inwardly from the sides. The double blending action is so rapid and effective that particles of different physical properties cannot separate, and are interspersed uniformly throughout the batch.
  • The blending action continues as long as the blender rotates. Discharge is rapid and complete. There are no corners or vanes to hold or carry material from batch to batch. Both charging and discharging action are by gravity flow and arranged so that the blender may be installed in a continuous process operation

Ribbon Blender

Ribbon Blender comprises of a U-shaped horizontal trough and a specially designed Double Helical Ribbon Agitator rotating within. Nauta mixers are widely used for mixing dry materials, paste, cream and lotions. The principle of blending is based on the differential travel speeds of product particles in the conical section of the vessel. The material from the bottom section of vessel is lifted by the screw and spread over the upper sections.
Design Highlights
  • The outer ribbon displaces the material from the ends to the center while the inner ribbon moves the material from the center to the ends. This counter-current action results in homogenous blending.
  • The ribbons rotate at approximately 70 - 100 meters per minute and move the material both radially and laterally to ensure thorough blends in short cycle times.
  • Ribbon Blenders are based on a proven agitator construction that provides a triple mixing action ensuring fast, efficient blending. The dimensions and configuration of the ribbons are carefully balanced to provide a movement of material within the container that avoids dead spots and gives rapid product discharge.
  • Triple Mixing Action - The Key to Fast, Efficient Blending
1. As the agitator rotates, the material is tumbled and carried radially around the inside of the blender.
2. The pitch of the outer ribbon moves the material toward the discharge opening.
3. The inner ribbon which has an opposing pitch moves the material away from the discharge opening
