Geotextiles can be cut or punctured during field installation, which can create a possible condition by which strength is controlled by a tearing resistance. An outline of an isosceles trapezoid is marked on a rectangular specimen (150 mm x 75 mm) cut for the determination of tearing strength, (with a 6 to 9 mm cut) and the nonparallel sides of the trapezoid marked on the specimen are clamped in parallel jaws of the Tensile Testing System.

The apparatus consists of a tubular furnace capable of achieving temperatures of 500 Degree C. Using a relatively low wattage heater with assures longer life of the furnace. The furnace is fitted with an imported programmable P.I.D. controller having a ramp and soak i.e. rate of rise of temp. Can be controlled and programmed apart from maintaining the same within permissible limits of +-5 Deg. Centigarde. The apparatus also consists of a nitrogen flow meter and a full set of glass parts, meeting the requirements of IS/ASTM standards

Fabric is clamped to give an inner diameter of 15 cm and a 50 mm CBR plunger is pushed centrally through a fabric at a specified rate. The load at failure is the push through load and when divided by the cross-sectional area of the plunger, gives CBR push through resistance.

Drop Tester (For coggorated box testing)

Essential for quality control and development for consumers of corrugated and solid fiber board, shipping containers, etc. Ascertains transport worthiness of the container.

Operation

A box attached to a vertical column is provided with mechanism to release the resting table instantaneously. For easy adjustment of the drop heights this box is balanced by a counter-weight over a pulley. Package under test is placed on the resting table. By pressing the lever on the box, the package is allowed to fall on the platform at the bottom. The fall is straight and perfectly vertical. The machine is sturdy and easy to operate.
