Gum Rosin, also called colophony or Greek pitch, is a solid form ofresinobtained frompinesand some otherplants, mostlyconifers, produced by heating fresh liquid resin to vaporize thevolatileliquidterpenecomponents. It is semi-transparent and varies in color from yellow to black. At room temperature rosin is brittle, but it melts at stove-top temperatures. It chiefly consists of differentresin acids, especiallyabietic acid.
Gum Rosin is distilled from natural resin raw material.Its chemical composition is C19H29COOH , the isomers ofresin acid. It is widely used in paints, paper, soap, rubber, food, chemical and pharmaceutical industries with unique significant characteristic.
