Contact SupplierWhat is a Panic Exit Device?
A locking device installed on an exit door to release the latch when the crash bar is pushed. The door latch releases when a bar, across the inside of the door, is pushed.
In the event of FIRE people panic and normal Door Locks handles and levers are not operable due to panic.
Panic bars are now a required safety feature in all commercial buildings.
The doors are normally closed and at the time of emergency the doors can be opened by pressing the Panic Bar (on Push open side only) on the other side either no access or access with key is provided for security. However access from inside to outside is available even if the Panic bar is locked. People from inside the building are allowed to move from inside to outside, but people from outside the building are not allowed to move inside this access is provided to the authorized persons only .
Fire-rated exit devices are specifically built to pass rigorous fire tests. These tests ensure the devices resist fire and associated events for specific amounts of time, thus preventing the damage of life & property.
Panic Bars can also be provided with alarm so as to sound alarm when device is pressed to open the door thereby alerting the security to take suitable action. The internal cylinder activates the alarm. Pressing the push bar sets off the alarm, this is also set off if the latch bolt is not properly locked, i.e. when the door is not perfectly shut. Connections are identical to those of a standard electric lock.
