Neem Leaves

Neem leaves are used to treat chickenpox and warts by directly applying to the skin in a paste form or by bathing in water with neem leaves. In order to increase immunity of the body, neem leaves are also taken internally in the form of neem capsules or made into a tea. The tea is traditionally taken internally to reduce fever caused by malaria. This tea is extremely bitter. It is also used to soak feet for treating various foot fungi. It has also been reported to work against termites. In Ayurveda, neem leaves are used in curing neuromuscular pains. Neem leaves are also used in storage of grains. Neem leaves are generally gathered only from organic trees, this is so, because it ensures the protection of natural elements and reduction of contamination by environmental/synthetic toxins.

  • Mature green leaves are collected and allowed to dry partially in shade and are then crushed into powder.
  • Powdered leaves are then soaked, normally overnight in water (for aqueous extraction) or in organic solvents (for organic extraction); the extract is strained through a cloth the next morning. Aqueous extract is rich in carbohydrates, pigments, water soluble amino acids.
  • The extract can then be used for desired purpose.

Neem Fruits

Neem fruit is green in colour initially and gradually turns to yellow when fully ripened. A matured fruit is very fleshy and filled with sweetish fluid. Fruit contains 40-55% water content. Collection of fruits requires organized and planned plantation and collection efforts.

Guggul is a Sanskrit word which literally means one that protects from the diseases. It is in fact an oleoresin which is secreted from plant Comniphora mukul under the influence of the sunrays in summers and then solidifies in winters which is then harvested for various purposes.
