Jeera or cumin is a strong aromatic spice which is commonly used as one of the ingredients of the curry powder. The biological name of cumin is Cuminum cyminum L and its plant belongs to the family of Apiaceae (parsley family). Its warm flavour attaints a distinctive spicy spell when bit fried or roasted and then crushed. Its usage as a spice is mostly popular among Mexican, Indian, Chinese, North American and Middle East cuisines. Cumin seeds are used for medicinal purposes too. It helps to reduce nausea and other disorders like diarrhea and indigestion.
