These are very fast (mille seconds) operating solenoid actuated electromechanical disc fail safe brakes. The Fail safe operation of brake type 1000 is derived from the braking torque generated by the spring pressure when the brake is electrically switched off. This pressure is neutralised by the solenoid force when the solenoid is energised and the brake is released. If necessary, braking effect can also be neutralised by means of manual release device.
