Defrost

Make use of a heat gun to aid with a range of defrosting needs that can arise inside and outside the home. You can begin the process of defrosting a freezer that has become solidly blocked with ice by applying heat; the freezer should still be unplugged during this process. The piece of equipment is ideal for use on external pipes and guttering which have frozen over in the winter if it reduces the ability of the water to flow. Soften

Substances that begin soft or as a liquid before they harden can usually be softened again with the use of a heat gun. Candle wax that has dripped onto a hard surface can quickly harden and leave a residue if it is only scrapped away. Melt the wax by applying some heat before wiping away the resulting liquid.

Plumber’s putty that has hardened against pipes, tiles or porcelain sink may prove difficult to remove. This will be easier to do if you initially soften the putty by applying heat and then scraping at the base where it meets the surface.

It is an ideal piece of equipment to use with many items that have been secured with glue as it can be softened to a point where the item becomes easier to remove.

A heat gun can be used as part of a painting and decorating project as part of the preparation process necessary. It can be used as a method to help strip both paint and wallpaper to rectify the surface in readiness for a new application. Steadily applying heat while using a scraper will make the task much easier than using a scraper alone.

It is easier to remove window caulking and other types of sealant with the application of heat.

Drying

 

A heat gun can be used in a variety of processes where a shortened drying time is required. For example, if filler has been applied to defects in preparation of the surface being painted, it can be dried quickly with heat. His method should also be used after mold cleaning has been undertaken to quickly remove any remaining water. Applying heat with this method is an effective alternative to a kiln when it comes to drying pottery clay.
