Acrylic fibers are essentially synthetic fibers that are created from a polymer (polyacrylonitrile). They have an average molecular weight of ~100,000, about 1900 monomer unit’s. For a fiber to earn the status of acrylic in the US, the polymer must consist of at least 85% of acrylonitrile monomer.
