Contact SupplierOverview about aluminium oxide:
Aluminum oxide, also known as alumina, formula weight 102, commonly referred to "Aluminum oxide", is a white amorphous powder, insoluble in water, commonly known as alumina. Formula weight: 101.96 Properties: white and insoluble in water solid , odorless, tasteless, quality extremely hard, easy to absorb moisture but not easy deliquescence (calcined, non-hygroscopic).
Amphoteric oxide, soluble in inorganic acid and alkaline solution, almost insoluble in water and non-polar organic solvent; the relative density (d204) 4.0; melting point of about 2000 ℃. Storage: sealed dry preservation. Purposes: as analytical reagents, dehydrating the organic solvent, the adsorbent, organic catalysts, abrasives, polishing agents, aluminum smelting raw materials, refractories.
Definition of Alumina:
Alumina (Al2O3) is a compound with high hardness, melting point 2054 ℃, boiling point of 2980 ℃, used in the manufacture of refractories. Industrial Al2O3 is made of bauxite (Al2O3▪3H2O) and diaspora, Al2O3 requiring the high purity generally is made through chemical method.
Al2O3 has many allomorphs, now 10 kinds has known for us, there are mainly three kinds of crystal forms, namely γ-Al2O3, β-Al2O3, α-Al2O3 (corundum). Wherein the structural different and properties different, at a high temperature of above 1300 ℃,they almost complete convert into α-Al2O3.
Properties of alumina :
1, is neutral alumina powder, alumina fine powder particles reach to 5nm,with large surface area, greatly improve material hardness and scratch resistance force.
2, was added to the material, the alumina particles are firmly attached to the surface of material, forming aluminum and oxygen bonding between the particles, greatly increasing the hardness.
